Everyone makes three seperate 100 pnt (or under) squads of 2 characters each with no faction restriction (so 6 figures total). So Satele Shan and Darth Zannah are a perfectly legal squad.
Each squad MUST have 2 characters (so no 100 pt pieces allowed or really any piece more than 97 although there aren't any others currently).
All squads are revealed before the game starts. Each player selects (in secret) which squad of theirs will be their first squad in.
When any players team of 2 is defeated, that player places one of their remaining squads in their starting area after the end of the current round (can choose any remaining squad).
Unique rules still apply. You may only have 1 uniquely named character amongst all 6 of your characters. IE, if you have Han G.H. in 1 of your squads you can not have another Han in any other of your squads. The only exception to this is Replication - Replication will work as normal. Your one squad can contain 2 characters who count as IG88. You still cannot have another IG88 in either of your other squads.
Han in Carbonite is not legal in this format.
Players collect points equal to the characters point cost that he or she defeated. Once a players final character is defeated, he or she is out of the game and shall add up there total points scored. When only 1 player remains he or she receives points equal to the point cost total of all their undefeated characters, including any who have not yet joined the battle.
Winner is the player with the highest point total. Tie breaker goes to the player with the last defeated character of the players tied.
Additional Rules:
- All games are played on the Rattatak arena map. Characters cannot exit the arena. Characters can start in any square adjacent to "your" door.
- Emplacement: characters with emplacement must set up with its entire base within 6 squares of that players starting door.
- Each player only activates 1 character per phase.
- targeting: every player may target the nearest character of each players squad. Adjaceny still trumps. Assuming 4 players, each shooter should have at least 3 legal targets (one from each oppposing squad).
- Master Tacticion and Tacticion +(#) work as normal. If a player has master tac and does NOT roll a 1, they will go first.
- The player who "wins" init goes first (no choice), and all other players go in init order. If players tie on init, those players involved re-roll, but the new roll only determines the order between those players. For example: init rolls are 14,11,11,7. The player with 14 goes first. The player with 7 goes last. The other two players re-roll to determine who goes second and third.
- lasting effects: (ie - dark force spirit, impulsive abilitys, etc...) lasting effects only apply to the characters currently on the board at the time the ability takes effect.
- additional characters: no additional characters may be added to the board for any reason. ( reinforcements, reserves, alchemy, dismount, vehicle, etc...).
- Abilitys that cause characters to switch teams work as normal. ( betrayal, internal strife, turn to the dark side, etc...).
- defeating own characters: if you defeat your own character due to repulse, grenades, etc... All other players split that characters points. (rounded down).
- Bombad Gungan and other abilities that cause a change of target: if bombad gungan cause you to target a different enemy. The player doing the attacking/targeting will get the points if that enemy is defeated. If bombad gungan causes you to target yourself thus resulting in your players defeat all other players will split those points.
- force suppression: In the event of more than one character with force suppression on the board at the same time, you will still only have to pay 1 extra force as this will fall under the general rule of stacking. A character can't be affected by the same ability multiple times unless it specifically says "this ability stacks".
- intuition, battle ready, Resol'nare, Surprise move, surprise attack, Aiing-Ti Flow Walking, etc all work just like in the normal game.
[Game going to time] If you are the last man standing in a game that ends BEFORE time, you add the points of the characters you have left (even those that may not have been on the board yet).
EDIT: In the event of a game going to time, points will only be rewarded for characters that have been defeated.

James said he has had a couple people ask him for the exact rules of this format.
I believe this covers everything.
This is basically copied/edited from the original rules with a few updates along the way after having run this for multiple years at Gencon.
This year is again a 4 hour time slot.
There will be either 3 or 4 players per map (depending on overall number of participants).
It will be broken into 2 rounds of approximately one hour and 45 mins each. The first round the players will be randomly assigned a map. The second round, the top 4 players from rd 1, the next 4, etc will be grouped together, and the highest scoring person on each map in the second round should receive a prize.
If there are any other questions, please post here, or PM, or get ahold of James.

Typically it's played that only the last man standing counts his own characters points. If a game goes to time, only killed characters are counted.
So we are changing that for this year?

I see - the post was copied/pasted from an outdated rules set (it needs to be updated)
We've actually never played it at GenCon where anyone other than the last player standing earns points for their own figures. It really promotes action.
So - would suggest keeping that the same as we've done at GenCon every year to not cause confusion.

Thanks for putting this rules list together. I signed up for this event and am looking forward to it!
Reading this helped pair my duos down from 12 to 7. Time to dig out my Rattatak map so I can figure out the finalists.

So we are changing that for this year? updated. Only defeated characters count for points in a game that goes to time.

Thanks for running a fantastic event! I had as much fun with this as anything I've done in this game over the years. Congrats to the winner as well. I look forward to next year.
