I mean, sure, any squad can get up to 30 activations if you wanted to? Its not that hard in any faction to do that.

Thrawn and Seps naturally gravitate to high activation squads, as they have more useful cheap grunts. Seps can make cheap fodder like Geonosian Drones, Battle Droids, or Muun Guards into useful pieces. Thrawn can use cheap pieces as swap fodder. Daala can power up Raxus Prime Troopers into good shooters.

I don't think factions like Sith, Republic and Old Republic get the same utility from cheap pieces - you're usually often better off with extra attackers in those factions.

Make Dodonna mandatory one at a time like Ozzel. Make a cheapish 9-12 point fringe piece with NTMTOdds. Make Morrigan 41 points OR lose Suppressive. Oh yeah, have Threepio lose 3270 to 1.

Make Master Tactician an option if willing to re-cost him (Thrawn) by +10 points (before squad reveal). Lose it, his cost remains @ 31 or 37 and everything remains. Really, without it, he still has swap and +3+3 or Oppo and is a slightly more costed than Panaka AND still better because he can swap large and huges.

Let's be honest. Dodonna isn't half the problem Ozzel is, however Dodonna would be if we just ban Ozzel outright. San hill isn't anywhere near the severity of the other two now with the Errata on the mouse droids and Poggle. Be Honest. My opinion is a definition change. Like "If your squad contains X or less activations" or "If your opponent's squad has X more characters than you", you make activate one character per phase.

As far as Morrigan. Easy, Rival against Imperial squads. That's where she is the most dangerous. You're welcome, I'll be here all week.

That would stop her from being a problem, but it isn't a thematic fix since she worked for the Imperials. I'd prefer something else if any change to her is made.

Thematically, would giving her Betrayal in an Imperial squad work?

You mean Internal Strife? Sure, but she might still be too good even then.

We should just make a piece

Media Reporter Cost 7

"Fake News": Opponents with a piece that has Master Tactician automatically lose inititative except on a roll of a 1

ok just kidding.
But tbh, the best and easiest solution is just to ban Ozzel and Dodonna
Then cap squads to 15 activations so we get away from the 22 activation Daala squads that will be bound to take over.

Then design that semi-cheap, NTMTO piece and that ought to do it.

I don't think anyone going to go along with banning WotC pieces that have been around for over a decade.
Anybody is free to ban any pieces in their own play group if they desire

+1000 to this and I hav only played san hill in one squad.

Floor rule change limiting activations with act control or line on sight restrictions and be done with it.

The wisdom of jak is timeless and pure. Well timeless anyway. 🤣🤣

Same ol' nonsense about not wanting to do something because WotC made it.
Again, WotC made a flawed game. It should be changed. Got to let go and move onto better horizons.

It's been 4 months since this very important discussion on bringing balance to SWM. We are now in February 2020, no changes have been made, and the 2020 regionals are coming soon. This is very disappointing...……………………………………………….ThumbDown Sad

It doesn't make sense to me that the committee will change all these issues/problem minis/Commander effects, etc., over the years on minis that haven't won/dominated GenCon, and we have this great unbalance in the game, yet they are dragging their feet, to make these obvious much needed changes. It's quite frustrating/disturbing/surprising, and disappointing 🤔
