The card text is:

Repair 10 (Replaces attacks; touch; remove 10 damage from 1 Droid character)

and if we then look at Glossary Terms,

Touch: Some special abilities and Force powers have a range of touch, meaning they can be used only on adjacent characters or on the acting character.

But according to the FAQ,

Q: Can a character use its Repair ability to remove damage from itself?
A: No

Is anyone able to explain this for me?

Assume same goes for Heal, Force Heal, Industrial Repair etc.

The reason a character can't use repair or industrial repair on themselves is because the full glossary definition of them specifies that it can only be used on an adjacent character. Contrast it to the definitions of Heal and Force Heal, which specify an adjacent character or itself.

Abilities, when written on the card, don't always have every bit of info of the ability on the card (especially when a character has many abilities and powers), so it's important to consult and use the full glossary definition of them.
