Had an Idea for a Custom Ability Options

Hey guys, I had an idea for a custom ability, and was just hoping to get some feedback.


Pommel Strike

When this character prevents damage from a melee attack, make a save 11; on success, this character may push the attacker back one square.


I got the inspiration after playing Revan, Supreme Commander. I love Counter Push 1 as a force ability, and it really helps to counter multi-attack teams. The idea was to pair this created ability with like Makashi Style or Lightsaber Defense, providing a chance to not only prevent damage, but interrupt the attack chain as well.

I was also inspired by the Decieved trailer for SWTOR, which can be found here: SWTOR Decieved Trailer

I always loved how Ven Zallow punched Malgus in the face at the 2:55 mark.

Let me know what you guys think. Too strong?

One concern is that it is pretty harsh to melee. It's stronger than makashi/parry/SSM because of the prevention of multiple attacks (as you pointed out). Also being an SA it would be free (as opposed to counter push).

I had considered that, which is why I locked it behind what would essentially be 2 saves; 1 to prevent the damage, and then 1 to actually move the character away. But perhaps a higher DC would be more balanced, like a save 16?
