What if... We could block enemy LOS with large and huge sized characters? Maybe it would only be huge characters, but it could help their playability. Some large characters are still being used, but huges are almost non-existent. Thoughts?

Quote:Some large characters are still being used, but huges are almost non-existent. indeed, why might that be? Damage output of Larges and Huges? Maps with low objects and hard walls? Quote:We could block enemy LOS with large and huge sized characters? Here here! That has made sense for a very long time, it's so counter-intuitive an Ewok can in some circumstances, shoot 'through' / 'past' a ATAT or ATST blocking a doorway. Would it be implemented via an alteration to things such as Sniper etc? Because, if you don't change sniper etc, there are 4 or 5 special ability combos which would still be interpretted as being able to do that goofy interaction for targetting Though, for some Huge and Large sized characters on some maps, it would be nice to thwart the R2 Override door-gimmick squads by being able to walk through the wall, have destructible terrain and replace the wall with a terrain tile overlay...

The main issue would be that this game was designed as a "quick game" format to the SW Roleplaying game. It is supposed to be a much simplified version and with limited rules. I guess you could say we would be trying to bring too many real world rules into this "simple" game. (yes, I'm rebutting my own posting in a way) (from a certain point of view...)

Not really though, as we have already made it so mouse droids cant provide cover or restrict movement. This is actually a good idea.

Perhaps i'm misunderstanding, but don't large and huge characters already block LOS? I very much liked the change to mouse droids. Also I don't think Sniper would need a change, it will still do exactly what it's supposed to.
Addendum, just thought of a way to change sniper. Make it so that Huge characters block LOS no matter what. That way you can't snipe past a Rancor.

Unless I'm not getting it, I think they are suggesting that Huge characters should act like a psuedo wall? Not allowing sniper to function with characters

If that's the suggestion then i'm for it. Huges have so much going against them including their size. Turning their size into a pseudo asset would be cool.

Should have posted this originally... Glossary definition of Line of Sight: "A character can see a target that it has line of sight to. Walls block line of sight. To determine line of sight, draw an imaginary line between any point in one character’s space and any point in the other character’s space. If any such line is not blocked by a wall, then the two characters have line of sight to each other. The line is clear if it doesn’t intersect or even touch walls."
Only walls block sight right now (closed doors count as walls). But what if larger characters could do the same...for attacks, abilities, and even CEs...?
You guys above are on the right track.

This is a really interesting topic! this probably should only be implemented on Huges imo. But the wording could say "blocks line of sight to if allied characters if they would receive cover". needs to be refined some to work with the rules, but the important thing is that they need to function like blocking terrain like a wall.

Quote:this game was designed as a "quick game" format to the SW Roleplaying game. essentially, yes, and in many discussions over the years, from WotC forums all the way to present, there's been folks who have said "beyond a certain 'zen' point of complexity, why not just use SWRPG, or the new ImperialAssault, or other roleplaying game frameworks?" Quote:(yes, I'm rebutting my own posting in a way) (from a certain point of view...) Or, from another point of view, you're being "meta" and displaying eidetic recall on this issue that is raised from time to time over the eons Quote:I think they are suggesting that Huge characters should act like a psuedo wall? Quote:Not really though, as we have already made it so mouse droids cant provide cover or restrict movement. This is actually a good idea. Yeah, it's as though they are effectively "Temporary Mobile Walls" in game terms. that's what I couldn't fathom eons ago, but, if you go down that rabbithole, how many tournaments have hinged on the interpretation of this particular mechanic interaction. There are a few maps where, in some alleyways, you could stack Huge + Large bases equipodally, to force line of sight to be untargettable. "Hobson's Choice Targetting Gimmick" as janky and annoying as the R2 Override TKO gimmick was? who knows... how would the meta change and adapt to clustering around a particular mechanic. Which would be similar to the concerns raised intermittently about "Squeezing" "Is it Time to allow Squeezing, at a different move penalty, for Large and Huges? "
