Was such an epic day. We had ten players all in, two rounds of Swiss followed by the playoffs for final four. Score for Swiss: Name: Squad: (1, 1) Curtis: Vader Snowtrooper Reserves (1, 1) Zach: Sith Armoured Zannah/Plauguis (1, 2) Amanda: Mando Supercommandos x8 (1, 2) Ross: Rebel classic heroes (Han, Luke both unleashed, 100 point Obi) (2, 1) Veronica: Grievous + IG86s (2, 1) RJ: Daan’s basic Stormtrooper Swarm
Top four finishers for score (1, 2) Jamie: Bounty Hunters + Talon (2, 1) Jonathan (GG that’s me): Grievous HoH, New Dooku, Cade Skywalker, Holosid, Baran Do Sage (2, 2) Nathan: Imperial Vader/Sideous/Corde/Mara (2, 2) Daniel: Republic GOWK + OP Commandos
Finals was: Fringe VS Republic (Republic Win) Seps VS Imperial (Seps Win)
Bronze Medal Game Fringe VS Imperial (Imperial Win)
Finale, Republic Versus Seperatist (Republic Win)
It was an awesome event, we were missing some of the regulars who couldn’t make it out/had moved but had three brand new players, with an 11 year old holding his own and winning a game, and a brand new player making it into the final 4. Very close games for the most part but the Imperial and Republic especially squads were the clear powerhouses.
If anyone wants some detailed play reports or squad builds let me know. Otherwise my brother Daniel is the reigning Canadian champion of our war in the north 2022. I’ll have to settle for second again this year haha.

Awesome about getting new players! Looks like Dooku from ITT. Unless Din Djarin was hidden in that Talon squad.

Yes it was that Dooku, also Wilhuff Tarkin was in the Snowtrooper build and helped to combo up with Vader Agent of Evil and the double/careful shot build. like our classics haha. It was great having some new players and seeing them do well.

Are any of your group part of the design/play test group? I did a little bit for the last one and it was fun.

Yeah that’s probably part of it too, many of the new characters are more obscure or new lore characters where the classics always appeal. (Though I almost brought a Mandalorian TV show squad based off the latest set, but also didn’t want to bring something new so close to the tournament). Bastilla we found to be too punishing on CEs creating a negative play experience. Here you still have that exciting initiative where you can maybe get one crazy combo off before she nerfs your squad, plus it equals one less round of her shutting down all CEs and makes your opponent have to use an activation to turn her on. I helped with playtesting before but I’m also the only one that plays online or really plugs into the global community. We’ve been playing for a long time and kind of in our own bubble. Also another rule I should have mentioned here again is we have always played to time. We don’t stop at 200 points. Points just help with individual scoring after a game and overall scoring (as we needed to use them to decide who went into the final four since only two players went undefeated in Swiss). It feels much more thematic to play out the game to time but again that’s just us.
