thereisnotry defeats Spryguy1981 382-18 (3-0)
Matt won the map roll but chose to play on Theed Palace anyway, because of the threat of Jango's Furious Assault (and on Modular Base all his guys would be sitting ducks out there in the hallway next to the central room. His Boba was a Mando Hunter, and my Boba was a Unique Hunter.
Battle Ready pushed his attackers way up the map, and put me in a position where I had to be very careful with my positioning if I didn't want to eat a ton of damage.
Round 1: Basic positioning, no gambit.
Round 2: I won init and let Matt go first. He did his resolnare, and then I did mine (ending my people beside the door). He activated Cara to move past the center of the map. The door opened at the end of his turn, at which point Vindicated triple-twin-attacked Matt's DinDjarin, bringing him to 20hp. Jango then FA'd, targeting everything on Matt's squad except for Boba and an Uggie. Then Boba based Fennec to get rid of her. Matt did a bunch of damage to Vindicated, bringing him to 20hp, but then I was able to finish off the Armorer and Kelborn and Cobb before the end of the round.
Round 3: I won init again and went first. I forgot to resolnare, but it didn't end up mattering. I activated 3, so Jango could FA again, leaving just Matt's Boba on the map. Then Mira and Vindicated poured out a lot of shots to finish off Boba.
That FA from Jango in round 2 was disgusting. I missed a few of those shots and Matt made some important Evade and/or armor saves, but there were just too many shots going around for Matt's guys to last long after that. I was worried about Matt's squad having so many attackers, but since most of them were (sometimes severely) wounded after the FA, I was able to finish them off before they could do too much damage. Thanks for playing, Matt! Lots of fun.

Urbanjedi defeats timmerb123 Score was 305-212 when tim conceded after tsavong died with about 11 minutes left to go in the match.
Tim brought in Dooje and Advance Agent Officer. Tsavong got avoid defeat from the priest Chulkang got amphistaff from dooje Yammosk took Bandon's CE
Bane got the distraction from Tulak Horde
Rd 1 I killed Dooje with a LS throw and LOS to only his other character with diplomat. He charged in a couple of warriors and did some missing.
Rd 2 I intuitioned and surprise attacked to kill one of the warriors. Then used Bane to kill the other and retreated a little bit back onto my side of the board. Later Tulok did some running around to try and get to a spot to kill Khalee but between made all his SSM saves on the AoOs so couldn't teleport, and then rolled a 1 against khalee as well. We did some more stuff and tim charged chulkang up to start on my Bane. I took an AoO with tulak and he made the counterattack save and I failed the SSM so got to teleport to the other side of Khalee and rolled a crit to kill khalee. He did a bunch of damage to Bane, then with tsavong did some more damage to Tulak who again teleported to hit Zenoc quah.
Rd 3 was the huge init as it started with Bane and Chulkang based. I won with a 19. I intuitioned up cognus and surprise attacked on Chulkang. Got more damage in, but took some back in the face from counterattacks. Bane then did rage and LS Throw 2 to really punish chulkang, then backed away to give up the AoO and after a djem-so and a counterattack war both epics were dead. Tsavong came around and Ate Zannah but couldnt get damage to stick to cognus. Tulak finished off Zenoc Quahm and after Cognus rolled a crit against tsavong, he was down to 10. Wyyrlock came around and finished him off as he failed his avoid defeat. At that point we called the game as Tim didn't have a way to get any amount of damage on my guys.
It was another of those games that often happen in epic where a single init leads to an alpha strike that just can't be overcome by the other team. If Tim wins that init instead, I believe he can kill Bane even taking some amount of damage back from a djem-so, but at that point it would be Tim who would have an extreme upper hand as trying to finish off a chulkang would cost me a lot of HP on some of the counter attacks.

Finals: thereisnotry defeats urbanjedi, 372-122 (3-0)
We both had Theed Palace and I 'won' the roll so Jason got to choose; he set up on the right side, and then I did something I totally wasn't planning, and set up my squad in the bottom-left of the map. Jason set up Bane in the middle beside the Nexus with the Holocron (Bane also gained Distraction from Tulak). Boba was a Sith Hunter.
Round 1: I win init and let Jason go first. I resolnare to open the big door at the bottom. Holocron attaches to Bane. I use Thorium Charge to blast the bottom door of the center room. The Nexus pushes Bane forward, and then Bane runs up to Sorcery twice in a row. I get extremely lucky, and only Resurrector, Jango and Mira fall asleep. I drop Bane down to 20hp by the end of the round, thanks to a barrage of fire from Vindicated, Boba, Kelborn, etc.
Round 2: Jason wins init (despite my Tactician +4). I use Resolnare to retreat my people behind doors, but (stupidly!) forget that the doors will stay open until after the first activation. (And I'm the guy who's used Resolnare door tricks now for years! lol) Bane uses Sorcery twice again, with the result that only Mira and Jango are still awake from my squad...not good, not at all. Mira opens the door for Jango and then tosses a gernade on Bane (who makes both armor saves, so he lives), then Jango flies around to FA on all of Jason's significant characters...and he does a total of 30dmg (and none to Bane). After that, Jason pushes his people up using various sithy methods, so that my Tactician dies and most of the rest of the Sith are within striking distance of the rest of my squad for the next round.
Round 3: Jason wins init again. Bane uses Sorcery again but only has enough FP to do it once (Boba, Jango, Vindicated, Kelborn stay awake), and then he smacks Vindicated. Jango flies out to FA most things again: he kills Bane (finally!), puts 30 on Cognus, and takes a shot back in the face from Zannah who rolled a LSC Expert result. Boba then finishes Cognus (necessary because Doctrine of Fear makes his squad far tankier than it already is). Tulak brings Vindicated down to 60hp, and Zannah smacks Jango. Vindicated unloads vs Tulak (including a crit) to bring him to 30hp. Kelborn goes up with +9s for 10dmg (double twin) and proceeds to roll 2 crits and another hit vs Tulak, but since Vindicated is Distracted he doesn't give Deadly/Ruthless to Kelborn, and Tulak makes all his saves, so Tulak ends up smirking at a surprised Kelborn. I think the Holocron disappears this round due to lack of FP.
Round 4: I win init this time. Jango uses FA to put 60 on Bandon, and maybe some damage into Zannah. Tulak does 50dmg to Vindicated (made 1 beskar save to stay alive) which brought him to 10hp, and so Tulak finishes his turn with a Sith Hatred (it would've been enough to kill Vindicated on a failed beskar save), but Vindicated survives with good armor. Zannah punches Resurrector a couple of times. I pour a bunch of attacks into Tulak, but the sucker just won't go down...until Boba finally steps up and says, "Hold my beer," and blows him away. Zannah is beside some low objects, so Mira steps up to double gernade her. The Nexus fades away this round.
Round 5: I win this init too. I resolnare to put my Demolitionist beside Zannah in cover, with the result that Mira is able to kill off Zannah later that round. Wyyrlok and Bandon combine to finish off Jango with sithy force powers (Jango fails beskar 6 to die). Vindicated moves forward to draw a line on Wyyrlok and eliminate him.
Round 6: I win init and move my people up so that Kelborn can finish off Bandon with a double-twin Cunning Gauntlet Knife.
Wow, what a game! I was in a very, very bad position at the start of round 2, after almost my entire squad decided to take a nap. As always when playing against my Mandos, Jason showed extreme prejudice toward my Tactician, killing it before it had a chance to have any impact on the game...I think I'll just leave him in the starting zone when playing vs Jason from now on.... I got extremely lucky with my SS saves in round 1, because my heaviest attackers were still able to activate after Bane ran up, which meant that he was down to 20hp very early...if Vindicated or Boba fell asleep there, Bane would've lived quite a bit longer, which would've been quite a bit more painful for me. However, once I got to actually use all my pieces, things started to turn around for me. As always, it was enjoyable to play vs Jason, and in the Finals its even more fun! Thanks everyone!

I'd like to start another one mid February once the first part of v25 releases, that way people can get the first chance to see the newest mini's in action. This first tournament was a pretty good success i think! If people have any suggestions on tweaks to the rules, we can for sure try and implement them in the next tournament.

There has been some discussion about how the Epic characters are not always well-balanced: it frequently leads to a single initiative or even a single activation that decides the game, because of how the damage-output tends to spike so significantly. For example, my Jango doing 60dmg to everything via a Twin-Furious-Assault. Or the duel between Czulkang and Bane, etc.
So I'm curious what would happen if, instead of adding an Epic character for the final iteration of a squad (total 375pts), what if we could add a BHC (100pt) piece instead? Maybe let the squad go to 325pts for that final round, with up to a max of 2 or 3 characters added using those points. I realize that not all factions have a BHC character in-faction, so allowing up to 3 dudes would enable those factions to make good use of those last 125pts.
I like the idea of adding another layer past 200pts, so something like 300 or 325 seems interesting to me.

The good thing is that there is a 100pt Fringe piece everyone can have access to, but it would be great to have a couple options available to all factions eventually. Imperial faction has 2 already. I'd be fine with allowing 3 extra activations for 125 pts or possibly even 150pts, bringing the round 4 total to 325 or 350.

Would this be in lieu of the epic round, or in addition to it?
