Nau mai, Haere Mai ki te Star Wars Miniatures 150pt Tournament at Te Awakairangi Lower Hutt for this year 12024!
We're bringing it back! Its been a while since we've run a good ol' 150pt tournament and the time is now. Plus, we've not had a tournament this early in the year for a lil' while. Trying to get back to a 'Nationals in June' sort of thang. Anyhoo, we're starting to take squads and I'll have some details for you soon. Currently 11 players and counting including some of our older and younger stars!

Kia Ora e te whānau! After four rounds and a load of laughs (and a lot of Nomis riding on Thon's back against Sith squads), we finished our swiss rounds and stood proudly on the doorstep of the semis... then decided we'd rather go home early and shook hands on our top 4! That means our Te Awakairangi Lower Hutt 150pt champ is....
Joseph! (Hayden snared second!) Congrats!
After that we had a Kneesaa off (everyone grabbed a Kneesaa, we folded an Endor map in half and played in the trees, taking turns placing characters and then trying to out-Kneesaa each other)! Turns out rolling a 7 is not that hard... we played three Kneesaa-offs and our three winners (the first two gaining Flight for the next Kneesaa-Off!) were Ian, Hayden, and then Anthony! Bring on a Soresu Style Mastery version of Kneesaa in set 27.

A quick play report. I played the Sith triumvirate: http://www.bloomilk.com/Squad/254983/triumvirs-of-malachorMy squad is 200pts on bloomilk because of the massive Rapports (48pts of them). I was originally planning to run a DF Nexus instead of old-school Nihilus, but changed it the day before because I felt that I needed another damage-dealer. In the first match I played against Troy, who was running a Tulak Hord/Bane, Sith Master/Khem Val/Nexus squad. He set up Bane in the middle of the Great Library. Round 1, Bane came up to whack Sion for a load of damage. I levitated Traya in to start shooting her lightsabers at Bane. Many attacks were traded back and forth until (after Sion dying four times) it was just a full-HP Traya draining the last life out of a weakened Tulak Hord. The second game was against Ian with Thon, the new Nomi, T3, and an OR Senator, on Ravaged Base. This game went a little slowly because I had a hard time getting damage through on his attackers, and of course Sion keeps coming back. Thon got off a solid Repulse and took out first Nihilus then the Assassin, while Traya killed Nomi. I wasn't quite able to finish off Thon, nor could Thon kill Traya or Sion so we ran out of time with Ian leading on points. (Side note: we played Nomi as not getting damaged by Thon's Repulse, as intended, since she will soon be changed to fix that issue.) Next I played against Shuni with Zannah, Ommin and their three Force batteries (Nexus, Holocron, Exar DFS), on Ravaged Base. (Shuni called it "Mid squad" since almost everyone gets to set up in the middle of the map.) Zannah was able to corrupt Nihilus into oblivion, but I managed to ghostbust Exar after quite a few attempts (before Sion had to make any Eternal Hatred saves, luckily). Ommin threw a few Bolts of hatred and tried to stun with Sith Magic but I was rolling pretty well. After that Zannah ended up corrupting herself to death while adjacent to Sion and the Assassin, with Ommin following shortly after. Finally I played against Hayden's Din Djarin, IG-11, Cara Dune and Fennec on Ravaged Base. I surprised Hayden in round 2 by phasing through a wall with Traya to ambush Fennec after he had moved everyone else. Traya wasn't quite able to kill her because of her high defense, but when she attacked back she rolled a 1 and betrayed right away. After winning initiative Fennec could then drop some grenades on Din and IG-11 and hide. Din chased down Fennec, while Sion and Traya engaged against IG and Cara. Again with the high defense ratings I wasn't always hitting, but Eternal Hatred let Sion tank the brunt of the damage, and eventually Sion and Traya hunted down and finished off Din. We had a lot of fun, as always. For winning I awarded myself a Rebel Storm booster and pulled Captive Leia (who I already have, unfortunately). Hayden in second place was a little luckier and pulled Quinlan Vos from a Clone Strike booster.
