Can this effect be applied to say Rakghouls, so that they start gaining force points and therefore can reroll attacks? Thanks :D

Yes, but only if they are not affected by Savage. (see characters that have Empathy like the fringe Varactyl Wrangler to get around Savage) Savage characters are not affected by commander effects, which is how HoloSid gives the force renewal.

So the following squad would really work unless i swapped out the ugs for wranglers right? Also say i let the raks get 1 force point then sacrificed the wranglers to move exar, would they retain that point?

CotF 13 84 Exar Kun
KotOR 48 16 Rakghoul
KotOR 48 16 Rakghoul
KotOR 48 16 Rakghoul
KotOR 48 16 Rakghoul
KotOR 48 16 Rakghoul
KotOR 48 16 Rakghoul
CW 1 11 Darth Sidious Hologram

Once they gain one, it's theirs to keep.

I would trade 1 Rakghoul for a Wrangler and a Hellion Bike. :)

Since the Rakghouls are Savage and are not subject to Commander Effects, then they do not benefit from Sidious Hologram. Unless a character with Empathy you own is nearby to take away the character's Savage SA.

Keep in mind, when within range of a character with Empathy, they would lose Savage and no longer be subject to Exar's CE.

so in this squad the rakghouls can either gain force points or get Kun's CE

or gain Fp for around 5 turns, and then get the empathy character away

One more point to make about this (that is, if I'm not mistaken) is that they would gain the renewal (upon activating) while under the effect of empathy, but if they then move to attack and the attack takes place outside of range of empathy, then Exar's CE would be in effect. Especially good for savages with Charging Assault or Ambush.

If that is not the case, somebody please enlighten me Wink

You try to apply CE at the moment of need. If the character is legal to gain it, then it is applied.

Your assessment of the situation is correct.

how can somebody gain a force point when they don't have any force points? i was under the impression that force renewal provided 1 force point to any existing force user.

That is not a restriction in the CE, nor is it a restriction in Renewal. That FAQ clearly states that his CE applies to characters without a Force Rating, nor does it grant a Force rating.
