The 1 squad i cant stand to play against is the Lord Vader, Thrawn swap squad. Any other swap squad or any other squad i dont mind, but just them 2 figures haha, man oh man. When playing anything besides them figures i feel theres a chance i can win seeing as what mistakes i make, but with them 2, just seem not to be able to kill that team.

Although I find the rebel version even more annoying. Allies gain evade and mobile. Well you gotta think of it like this too, i used to hate i mean literally wanted to quit the game when Rieekan came out, for his points & what he gives i thought was stupid. But i got over it. Now with NR, you have wedge, yea he only gives it to followers but for a few more points you can throw Leia in the mix to reroll all your failed save rolls, so it might be more points but i'd take that over Rieekan anyday. & not many CE's on NR to deal with on good pieces, so alot of pieces get the evade.

Ah no Rieekan I can deal with, He's normally the one I gun for first. But Regarding what you said about Thrawn + Lord Vader swap. Yes I can relate. I've been plagued by a squad like that recently. I've been wracking my brains for a way around it. The swap isn't the issue, it's the annoying Master Tactician.

If you run a squad with Lobot you can bring him in and a Gonk Droid too for that matchup and then use whatever else you want in other games. Otherwise, any Han with Never Tell Me the Odds.

The best way to play against Master Tactician is to realize that you will never win initiative and adjust your strategy accordingly.

I don't mind playing any squad. If it is one that is hard to play against then the game is a challenge which is fun for me. Anytime I can play is a good time really

By out-maneuvering my opponent. Map choice really helps a lot. Besides mobile attack aside, evade doesn't always kick in. Plus there are ways to deal with Rebels. Thrawn-swap squads on the otherhand, were rarely played until recently by my local playing group. I agree with Mickey though. Any chance I get to play, it doesn't matter what squad I have or what I'm facing off against, is always a treat.

Unless you are playing a poor player or are on a map like Korriban, the only way I can see you getting around your opponent is with Yobuck or a one-try Lancer. Please be specific as to how you managed to ignore your opponent's squad and go straight for Rieekan in his hiding place, where he is probably sitting with dodonna and maybe Juno Eclipse. Your opponent's troops falling back in a straight line will be faster than yours going around his troops in a circle. Maybe you meant you went for Rieekan after you defeated most of his Squad? In that case, he likely would have already gotten some use out of Rieekan.

Yea your right with the Master Tactian, the only way that i found around it with what i play is using Han Galatic Hero, which he's alot of points to use, even though he's good theres still some better options i'd rather go for. For the swap, you can disrupt vader, but to really get him good you need to be able to put damage on him while he's in there. Its just the Oppurtunist, with sith rage & LSA he does 4 hits for 40 dam a pop. Its ridiculous. Even though i cant stand that combo, one good thing is not to many run them, still see it alot though, but just not as much as when that new thrawn came out.

Well killing the fodder is the first thing you should do if vader cant swap he cant normally get to you. Run some disruptive and shield that piece with either BG's or keep that piece near what you dont want vader to slay. If you can run a counter deep srike team work well against it killing mas or ozzel can help considerably use something like Yobuck and dont go for vader kill the fodder and swap out. The B&B player will have to run important pieces up and it will slow vader down and net you a points win prob without killing vader.

That's the thing, disruptive is a great way but NR disruptive units are just too expensive. I don't really play rebels either. I've been using Republic, Old Rep and NR. I end up killing his swappable grunts first. GMA-double attacking clones are really good for this. Just the other day I even tried out-activating him by using a droid army...I forgot about ozzel.

I've had some success using Luminara and Barriss with Antarian Rangers, throw in a gungan shieldbearer while you're at it. (while it may not always kick in, it helps considerably) The other guy (He's no noob either) uses a rebel cannon squad with Rieekan, but Energy Shields and Soresu pretty much solved that problem for me. I've done it twice already and it never happens when his squad is demolished. It doesn't work against direct damage though and it's a bit slower than what I'd normally run. I've also learned that The dark woman is a nice way around walls to hit those hiding commanders.
