Okay, I am confused about squad assualt in that the text reads, "+4 Attack while 3 characters with the same name as this character are within 6 squares." Does the "3 characters" include the character using squad assault? ie. I have three Old Republic Soldiers within six squares of each other and within six squares of Old Republic Captain, would the Old Republic Soldiers recieve Squad Assualt, because there are three characters named Old Republic Soldier within six squares of each other, or does there need to be three OTHER Old Republic Soldiers to benefit from Squad Assualt?
On an unrelated note-fringe characters remain fringe when in a squad of any faction right? So a fringe character could not benefit from the Old Republic Captain's Commander Effect that states, "Old Republic followers..."?

you would need 4(or more) characters with the same name to benefit from squad assault.
each character requires 3 other characters with the same name within 6 squares.
#2 no, fringe characters would not benefit from the OR captains CE as they are not OR.

No, Squad Assault doesn't include the character who has the ability. You would need 4 Old Republic Soldiers to trigger their Squad Assault (or 4 Shock Troopers to trigger their Squad Cover, etc).
