Either one. Because they are both adjacent while you are attacking, per the wording of Melee Reach.

Now for some future questions that may come up in regards to a figure having Melee Reach. Keep in mind that a character that is attacking treats all characters within it's Melee Reach range as adjacent for ALL purposes of special abilities or Force Powers.

I say this because most people get confused on certain interactions like Self-destruct, Lightsaber Riposte, Djem So, etc. So for instance, if you attack a Kel Dor Bounty Hunter who is two squares away from your Imperial Sentinel and kill him, the Imperial Sentinel and everyone next to the Kel Dor will be taking the 40 damage.

Anyways, I just thought I would throw that out there for the new guys (and a little bit of review for us veterans) just as a courtesy. BTW, nice to be seeing everyone on the forums again after my extended absence.

Sincerely,
Jester007

Hehe, the one that's REALLY awesome is Lumiya's Self Destruct 40 and Melee Reach 3. If she Melee Attacks someone, and they Riposte/Djem So and manage to kill her, then her SD40 would affect all characters within 3 squares!

Yes, You guys are right,
Lumiyas MR3 is only in effect when she is making an attack or on her own turn, So the Self destruct would take place if she were attacking someone and she were defeated by someones riposte or Djem-so, The Mr3 would be in affect

If she is defeated at any other time, only characters basing her would be affected.

Pretty cool!

Here is how it works:

Lumiya is attacking. Per MR 3, all characters within 3 are now adjacent. Attacks a character with Riposte/Djem So. As per the Resolving effects section of the FAQ, the Riposte/Djem So attack interrupts the current attack, so everyone within 3 of Lumiya is still adjacent to Lumiya. You fully resolve the final attack before you finish out Lumiya's attack, so if Riposte kills her, everyone is still adjacent to her.

Thats funny that we both responded within 12 seconds LOL
