if exar kun use transfer essense and replace a character such as dark hellion on swoopbike can he still attack after taking the square that was occupied by dark hellion

Yes, Transfer Essence does not replace turn or attacks, so it can happen at any point of a turn. If you use it at the beginning of your turn, you can still perform any other legal actions after it.

i may be wrong but i remember reading somewhere that Exar can make an attack, transfer essence, and make his other two attacks.

TE does not replace attacks. Just like Sith Sorcery/Rage he can use the Force power and still take 3 attacks.

To further clarify, yes, he could make an attack, Transfer Essence, then finish his two attacks. Anytime a power doesn't specify "replaces attacks" or "replaces turn", it can occur "for free" time-wise at any point in the turn, so long as it does not interrupt movement or individual attacks or abilities. So, you can use it before or after you move, but not in the middle of your move. You can use it before or after any attack of the triple attack sequence. Of course, you lose that option as soon as you spend a force point for any other reason.
