hey guys

wondering if skiff counts one extra square AWAY from others..yyou know how in the txt it stats "must count one extra square away from skiff when atacking, thus usually melee characters cannot attack unless they have melee reach"...well, wondering if this was true VISE VERSA; meaning, from an enemies point of view

why do i ask? well, say nom anor uses his ooglith masquer on the skiff, so the skiff owuld gain stealth. now, if his CE aplies to the skiff, that means you cant attack the skiff unless youre adj. to the skiff...but if the skiff always counts as one extra square away, you could never (theoretically) attack it!

thanks, help appreciated :)

The whole "count them as 1 square away" isn't involving the Skiff itself, only the characters on the Skiff.

...so the characters ON the skiff cannot be targeted even if the skiff itself is adj. to another enemy (assuming the characters have cover)

correct? Smile

Characters on the Skiff actually are always considered to have cover, but the characters themselves wouldn't have Super Stealth (unless they had Stealth, in which case I'm sure they would have SS). So even though you can't attack the Skiff you could attack the characters on it.

wait, but you could always attack the skiff when adj. to it no matter what, right?

Correct. Remember, there is no counting squares when your target is the adjacent Skiff. The counting squares is only if you're attacking the characters on the skiff.

...and the "vise versa" of the effect works both ways on the characters ON the skiff, right? ;)

Don't understand the wink, lol, but correct. Both enemy characters attacking transported characters and vice versa must add 1 square when counting range (meaning all Melee characters must have Melee Reach 2 in order to attack anyone).

Then can someone plz explain on why a character such as obi unleashed or Kota for example can use repulse while on the skiff and the 3 or 5 squares (depending on which repulse) is counted from the skiffs base? Because that's how it was played against me (which sucked) and even though I was sceptical that's how I understood it but after reading this I'm not so sure we played it correctly. In case I am unclear in my example: obi unleashed is transported up to a group of my guys by the skiff. He then uses repulse 3 while on the skiff. Because he was on the skiff the the distance was counted from the skiffs 3x3 base thus in turn increasing the repulse range. After reading this post I'm confused on why it would be that way for repulse but not for atcking.

It's the same way for both. You count from the Skiff, adding 1.

Obi Unleashed on a Skiff using Repulse 3 would affect all characters within 2 squares of the Skiff, as well as any other passengers and the Skiff itself.
