I've played something similar to this and I just don't think Longshot has it's place (for the cost) in a levitate squad full of melee characters. Typically, you outactivate them, levitate, and make your full attacks which (in my case, swapping out Shaak Ti for Dass Jennir) kills them. At that point, Dass either dies himself on the next round or I am able to levitate him to safety. There is no getting him to half hitpoints to activate Longshot.
Now I have had success against a primarily melee squad (Cay, Exile, Hoth, Dash) as it's a lot easier to spread the love via Ferus' bodyguard, but at 49 points I want it to work for more than 1/3 of my games in a tourney.
Who knows, maybe the key is the higher Hp in Shaak Ti over Dass Jennir, but then you are trading a lot of damage potential for it.

TCW has the key for the Long Shot ability: Bodyguard. You have to be able to take so much damage and then keep the characters alive. (damage mitigation) Try working some in there and try it out. Good thing is there are some cheap BGs out there: Human and Twi'lek.
