I usually go through a google image search looking for a picture with a solid background that I can make transparent and then I set the color settings at grayscale. Photoshop, Gimp, or Fireworks should also work to isolate a figure.

Quick question:

How do I download the files to a powerpoint presentation?

I tried multiple things, but the files all come out blurry.

I am not exactly sure what you mean, but I just copy the picture files and paste them into a PowerPoint document.
