Creepy but cool: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-ZqAymW7S4So, who else is disappointed that we'll never get Death Troopers? I know, I know, zombies are a been there done that sort of thing for a lot of people. For others, zombies in Star Wars is a jump the shark kind of moment. Not me though. I enjoyed the book (particularly the first half). Even more, I just loved the idea of it. Ravenous hordes of dead stormtroopers, imperial officers, and fallen prisoners stalking through the halls and hangars of a derelict Star Destroyer. There might even have been a really cool new map idea in there too. It would have been fun. They could have played similar to Rakghouls. Ah well.

I wish the book had actually been as good as that video. I found it dull actually, it was hard to get into and the action seemed like it had been done before, but it was a cool concept, and I for one am not disappointed in not getting any zombie stormtroopers

I thought things moved along quite nicely, had some interesting characters, was able to build as much suspense as a book about Star Wars zombies could, and created a very creepy atmosphere. Also, even though it was already spoiled for me... SPOILER ALERT Was it not cool when things started to get crazy on the Purge, and the doctor goes down to the solitary confinement section and find Han and Chewie?! It's like, who else would you want on your side during an outerspace zombie invasion than the crazy rogue and his Wookiee side-kick?

I'll agree that the book was a bit dull, but I can appreciate that it was something very new for the Star Wars Universe, and was bound to be a little awkward. Perhaps it would have been better with someone more experienced with Star Wars writing at the helm, but the premise was pretty neat. One thing that bugged the hell out of me the whole book was that some of the chapters were 2-3 pages. I mean, come on, that's just ridiculous - you can't build an type of momentum with a 2-3 page chapter!
But hey, with the game over, I'm sure people will start customizing pieces, and we'll get a zombie Stormtrooper. There sure are enough extra Stormtroopers to customize, lol.

I found the book decent nothing to great. It just never really felt like it was star wars for me I do have to say I didn't expect Han and Chewie to be in it and that was a nice surprise. I really don't think zombie troopers would have ever made it in to the game even if it was still being made.

I'm a huge Solo fan, but I'll admit Han and Chewie's entrance was a little jarring and took the scare factor down a couple notches. You knew nothing was going to happen to them, which somewhat cheapened the threat to the rest of the characters who suddenly felt a little like "red shirts" in comparison. I think it would have helped maintain the story's atmosphere better if Han and Chewie hadn't showed up at all or had been characters from the very beginning of the novel instead of popping up later as they did. But still, I did enjoy the book, and, like I said, I really love the idea of it. (It would make such an awesome RPG scenario.) saeseetiin wrote: I really don't think zombie troopers would have ever made it in to the game even if it was still being made. I don't know. Rakghouls are pretty horrific too, and the fact that LFL was willing to sign off on a zombies in space Star Wars novel in the first place suggests that a couple minis based on it might not have been impossible. Unfortunately we'll never find out how it might have gone.

I agree, and while some people clearly disagree that's the fun of a book, some like it some dont. Someone clearly liked the Kevin J Anderson Books or he wouldn't have gotten to write so many of them. And since the spoiler warnign has gone off the Han and Chewie thing annoyied the heck out of me. They had no business showing up in this story. I think that was the final straw actually. I did like the idea of a SW book wihtout any main known characters anywhere in it and then BAM!!! me ERGH!!! WHere does this fit now into the timeline? Did han and chewie ever sleep or eat, i don't think so we have almost their entire lives mapped out for us at this point.

Not a huge fan of the Book. Maybe the second one will be better.

I agree with the Han/Chewie. You can be a legit book without using any of the known characters. That would have made the book so much better. They seemed like they were thrown in just to get some fanboy squee.
