situation: Exar is adjacent to character with Clamp SA. Exar player declares he is moving away. Clamp character chooses to use the AoO and hits.
questions: #1) does Exar stay in the original square? #2) if Exar is clamped in the original square, is he allowed to use Triple Attack?

Hi, Sithborg, Thanks for the answer, what is the exact reasoning for the answer to #2 (Triple attack), so we can apply it in the future. Is it simply because he didn't move, end of story? Because the other side of the discussion was about the "declaration" of a move, even though it didn't happen. Thanks

Yeah, it because he didn't move. If he got stuck after moving 1 or more squares, than he couldn't Triple.

i dont know if this has been covered before but if an enemy character is next to you like this
EXX then moves like this 1st XEX 2nd XXE XYX XYX XYX
do you have to take the aoo the first time it is provoked or can you wait till he moves one square then take it? Do you get what im asking?

From how I understand it, you check AOOs every time an enemy character moves out of adjacency with one of your characters. The only stipulation is that each character only gets to make one AOO per turn.
So looking at it that way, it looks like you can wait to use the AOO as long as he is moving out of adjacency.

Attack of Opportunities are optional. You choose each time a character moves out of a space adjacent to an enemy whether you want to take it or not, as long as you only take one per character per turn.

ok i was just making sure if their is going to be multiple aoo provoked that if i pass on the first im not prevented from taking it on the second or third time. as long as i only take 1 on per turn.

Transfer Essence isn't movement, so it wouldn't trigger an AoO. It also wouldn't prevent a Triple Attack.

and getting "clamped" would not prevent Exar from Transferring away from the clamp character.
