I saw a small discussion on giving cover to an enemy by drawing a line from one of the attacker's "back" corners so it goes through the space that the attacker is standing on. Can this be done?

Example:

Apparently at some point it may have, but there was a ruling saying that you can't do that anymore.

Thanks for the prompt reply!

Yeah, good thing, too. It's ridiculous (and this coming from Mr. Voxyngate! :P)

To note, this question is explicitly covered in the FAQ under Cover.

Does this effect the ability to chose either front corner? Example:
E-O------C
-S
(E = enemy w/o Stealth; S = enemy with Stealth; O = low object; C = attacking charater; "-" = open space)

In the above example, depending on which corner you chose the attack from, you could shoot S with no cover (chosing from the bottom corner) or E due to S having cover and Stealth (chosing from the top).

Q: If a player wants a particular enemy to have cover for tactical reasons, can the player choose a corner that gives cover even when an alternate corner would provide clear line of sight?

A: No. An enemy either has cover or it doesn't and the player cannot manipulate this. The choice refers to the ability to select from among all the possible corners in an attempt to find one that removes cover and also in using different corners for checking cover for different enemies. If a corner exists that does not grant cover, one that grants cover may not be used.

Gotta say, I sure do appreciate Nickname getting all the rules stuff cleaned up and reorganized on the Holocron. BlooMilk

That would be a definite answer. Thanks for posting SF!
