Is mettle optional? Ex. You dont have to choose to use the +4 bonus...like, when sly moore uses domination over one of your own allies so you can use one extra turn for that character...and makes the save, but you want to reroll it to try and fail it. This character has mettle...what happens?

Mettle is not optional.
