hey

i was reading the (really long) article on wookieepedia about sidious...and it said he was amedexterous, master of ALL lightsaber styles, and was so powerful he could cloud the minds of the jedi masters and create new force powers at a whim.

So my question is: where is that represented in SWM? The two which i expected him to be uber-powerdul: sidious SM and sidious (from COTF)...and both of them (IMHO) really REALLY underrate their true status.

What do you guys think?

Well he is the only piece with the sick Pawn of the Dark Side power, an ability that he could have learned, but not from a Jedi... haha. also only piece with Force renewal 3 I think. Plus after his fight with the Jedi in Revenge of the Sith and the later battle against Starkiller, he doesn't really feel like dueling anymore. Heck by the original movies I don't think he even has a lightsaber anymore. So while he can duel, he ust chooses not to most of the time, instead manipulating things (Represented by betrayel/Force alter/POTDS/Crazy CEs) and lightning which all of his pieces have.

Well, Loda does, but that's two characters which only goes further to proving your point :)

In the movies, it isn't his lightsaber that ever does him any good. He gets three masters by surprise and does not fare too well against Mace when they actually duel with sabers. He basically loses the lightsaber part against Yoda although does better throwing Senate pods around. And after Order 66, there isn't much of a practical reason to know how to battle lightsabers users as there weren't any as far as he knew. (Which always bothered me why the Jedi still trained to fight against lightsabers when they believed the Sith were extinct for 1000+ years. It would be like modern cities having walls to protect against siege weapons, but I digress)

So, seeing him as a beatstick would not be right in the minis game for me. I like how he is depicted as a manipulator mostly and as pointed out by GG Pawn of the Dark Side is a great ability just for him. Now, for the clouding minds part, that would have been neat to see in some ability like a souped up Jedi Mind Trick.

i agree with both of you. But considering the part that said 'he was a master of all lightsaber styles', i kinda expected him to be a really souped up beatstick (which i guess he KIND OF was...)...but, all of the palpy/sidious pieces had PART of what his full power was...the spureme palpy had alter/betrayal, sidious SM/palpy SL was a beatstick, and sidious CS had pawn of the dark side (and the SM version)...and palpy on throne was the really hyped up force attery...but i kina expected a palpy to have like 130 HP, 21 def, +16 attack...and like triple attack, cunning attack? Or opportunist he was good at both lol...and also betrayal. And as force powers he could have renewal 3 (or 2) and MOTF 2...and like alter (maybe a new version like 'force alter 2 or 3')...lightning obviously, push, riposte maybe, pawn of the dark side, and force cloak hence his 'clouding the minds of the jedi'...idk IMO

thats my (realy long) two cents

I agree hes not really represented as he should be, but most pieces in this game arent given the credit they deserve. If they were given what they should have though, then the game would have to have much higher point limits, etc, as 60ish would probably be on the low end of powerful force users, etc (powerful being master status or the equivalent). GM Luke, I think would probably be mediocre as there would probably be a Vader, Revan, Palps, Bane, Yoda, Mace, Obi-Wan, and several others that would be in that same cost range.

As for Squid's comment about still training with sabers: The sith arent the only people out there who wanted the jedi dead. It was just their weapon of choice, opposed to a blaster, etc. If someone pulled out a gun in an intense negotiations session, then they could defend themselves/ the other targets. I understand your point, but its like saying cause cause there are no 'anti-police' gangs in a town, that the officers dont need to carry their weapons. Still lots of crazies out there lol.

yea the jedi used they're sabers for alot more then fighting as well. like cutting through doors, cutting through walls and instantly melting cheese or toating bread.

As for palpy.......alot of sith have been underated actually most of the sith faction is underated.
like luke they should release more 100+ point figures.

sidi
bane
yoda etc
