Flobi and GM Yoda - 200 Point Squad Options

I'm a relatively inexperienced player, but I ran Flobi and Grand Master Yoda together in a 200 point game the other day and I think they have their strong points together - Flobi gives Yoda an extra attack if he's stationary, and can try and absorb most of the non-melee attacks with Soresu and Mettle, while Yoda can get towed by R2-D2 and try and get his Ataru twin lightsaber throw off, and he can also give all the followers attack and defence bonuses. Yoda can also protect Flobi from stuff like force lightning since he has force cancel.

I understand that there are much stronger competitive republic squads out there - this pairing along with R2-D2 and Mas Amedda, who I think are both necessary, takes up 138/200 points, which is a lot. But I think they synergise together quite well, with good mobility, able to take some punishment, giving their followers some nice bonuses, and there aren't many squads in bloomilk with them together. One of the drawbacks is the lack of a republic force battery, since GMY only has FR1, and Flobi doesn't have any

But I wanted to know, what's good support for these two? I was trying to run a swap squad with Panaka, but it seems a bit redundant since Flobi has surprise move and Yoda can't be swapped with his small base. A JWM? Some Antarian Rangers? Other ideas?

well 33 point Rex is great and since he gives clones Greater Mobile Attack it has good synergy with Flobi's ce.

agreed, but then it puts youir squad at 171 points with only 5 activations and then youre probably going to be outactivated easily ;)

IMO, the best to use are as many antarians available...bc they have ATK/DEF synergy for force users, and theyll benifit from yoda/obis CE, AND they have stealth (all for 12 points). Pretty good if you ask me.

I would add 2 or 3 Ugnaughts so subtract 6-9 more points...

So maybe:

Flobi: 66
GMYoda: 55
Antarian Rangers * 4: 48
R2-D2 Astromech Droid: 9
Mas Amedda: 8
Youngling (to help give the Antarians the bonus from being close to a force user): 5
Ugnaughts * 3: 9
12 activations, which isn't too bad.

It's a shame the Antarians don't have accurate shot, but they should be able to hit things with their bonuses, and they can shoot twice at 20 damage if they don't move.

yea, thats not too shabby...though, one alternative squad similar to yours is swapping your 2 main beats (flobi, yoda) for GOWK and some other good fodder....gowk grants +4 atk/def to followers who have an ally within 6 squaees...which will grant the antarians 'ultimate' synergy with a total of +8 atk/def when within 6 squares of a force user!!! IMO, thats REALLY nasty. Plus, it removes the need of mas ammeda...GOWK also has better 'survivalbility'...he has renewal 1 and MOTF2 (not to mention force push 3 and knight speed) in addition to mettle/SSM.
Thats just a suggestion; your squad is great too!

Yeah, I should get GOWK sometime.

There's a squad with GOWK and General Windu which is along the same lines as my squad (two big beatsticks/commanders who provide commander effects for smaller shooters) - http://www.bloomilk.com/Squad/Details/72543 - although I'd drop the R7 for Mas Amedda so the extra attack for Windu goes across the board.

That's just way too much to spend on commanders, period. You're better off picking one or the other and building around him 100%. More than 60-70 points of commanders and you start running out of points to do damage with.
