The title says it all. I didn't want to create a poll and not have enough room for all the support mini's. With Wotc not making anymore mini's I'm looking to expand on how we make squads at home. Basically we usually just make whatever squad comes to mind. Now most of our squads would get crushed and blasted into oblivion if we entered them in any kind of tournaments. Scared So please feel free to share your idea's for great squad building techniques. ThumbsUp

What I was wondering is, what do you look for in special abilities from mini's that provide a support role to your Beat stick's and Shooters? Such as which mini's in particular, and why you choose to add them to you squads. Please give several example's, I am teaching my son and brother on how to make their squads better. Plus you'll help me out as well. ThumpUp

Thanks,

For shooty squads, especially opprotunist squads where many pieces have 20 base damage, a Czerka Scientist would be good.
The beatstick hits the target, target has a chance of being stunned. Then you can pull off opprotunist more often.

In short, I look for support minis that let you befefit whether you're activated or not.

I'll post more when I can think of some more.

Always start with a mini you want to build around be it a beatstick a commander or a shooter. Add suport and try differant things till you find something you like best. I think every squad is built up to 2/4-3/4 of the way with a solid foundation can be good and then just add in anything you want to fill it out and its a good squad.

The only other rule of thumb i use is have 3 viable threats in each squad (i.e. characters that can do at least 40 damage on their turns)

If you build by picking a character you want a squad for it works a lot better and interesting combos surface, characters like roron corobb, admiral ackbar, and Jerjerod become really interesting and powerfull options when you build to include them.

Also, don't build around something that relies on luck too much or you'll very often get dissapointed.
