If anyone wants to play Dejarik at GenCon let me know. I'll have my sweet, hand-made light-up board that Bob S from OH (Squid89) made with me, along with the figs. I'll want to play Wed night - Let me know if you're up for it!

-7pm - ???

-in the Lobby of
Crowne Plaza at Historic Union Station
123 West Louisiana Street,
Indianapolis, IN 46225
(Just across the street on the east side of the convention center)

All I know is I have a sweet Dejarik board that needs to be used. I printed out one rule set (The "original", which uses a bunch of D-6s). Eric - if you want to suggest a specific rule set I am willing to listen. It will all be new to me as well - so . . . who's willing to learn with me?

I would recommend the basic rules set for introducing players to the game. It takes about ten minutes to play. I put together a cheat card for choosing pieces and to remember the basic stats. You need is eight d6 dice for each player.

Basic rules.
- choose pieces and set-up (I like to deal out the cards from the printout below. I put mine in sleeves after printing.) Roll for set-up and each player takes turns placing one piece in any of the four spaces closest to him.
- each turn. You must take two actions. An action is either move a piece or attack. Any combination is possible each turn. (the trick is to remember you do not have to activate all pieces before going with the same piece again unlike minis)
- Movement. Must move full speed into any adjacent space. May not move diagonally or into occupied spaces.
- Attack adjacent characters. Roll the number of d6 (for attack or defense as appropriate) and add all together. Result chart is one the graphic below. A push or counter-push is moving the piece one square (if possible) following movement rules.
- Sudden Death. If each player only has one piece remaining, both pieces are placed in center circle. Choose one of the power ratings (attack OR defense) and roll until one piece is defeated (loses by 7 or more on the dice)

DalsianDon has a nice set of alternative dice rolls, if you want some variety and better balance after trying the basics. Both rules have merit, but I believe the d6 is the simplest. Have fun!

I will have 2 full sets of pieces, and 1 board (if need be we can do a quick paper board). Others are bringing more too. A handful of D-6s would always help, but even if you show up with nothing we can make sure you play.
