Anakin/Vader is my single favorite character in the Star Wars Universe! I also know that right now, movement breaking squads/tempo control squads or anti-tempo squads are the top squads without too much disagreement. With that being said, many of the more competitive vader squads are going to be the imfamous Black and Blue squads where Vader can swap. What Vader is the most effective/competitive mini for Imperial swap squads at this point? Please Justify your answers STATS Below: Lord Vader Cost: 71 Hit Points: 130 Defense: 21 Attack: 14 Damage: 20 Special Abilities Unique Dark Armor Melee Attack Twin Attack Force Powers Force 2 Force Renewal 1 Force Leap Lightsaber Assault Lightsaber Sweep Master of the Force 2 Overwhelming Force Sith Rage Commander Effect Followers within 6 squares gain Advantageous Attack. Darth Vader, Scourge of the Jedi Cost: 55 Hit Points: 120 Defense: 21 Attack: 14 Damage: 20 Special Abilities Unique Melee Attack Double Attack Dark Armor Djem So Style Jedi Hunter Force Powers Force 4 Lightsaber Riposte Lightsaber Throw 2 Darth Vader, Jedi HunterCost: 75 Hit Points: 140 Defense: 23 Attack: 16 Damage: 20 Special Abilities Unique Dark Armor Jedi Hunter Melee Attack Triple Attack Force Force Grip 1 Force Renewal 1 Force Whirlwind Lightsaber Block Lightsaber Deflect Lightsaber Sweep Darth Vader, Sith Apprentice Cost: 46 Hit Points: 130 Defense: 19 Attack: 12 Damage: 20 Special Abilities Unique Melee Attack Double Attack Affinity: Characters whose names contain 501st may be in your squad regardless of faction Djem So Style Force Powers Force 2 Force Renewal 1 Force Grip 1 Lightsaber Riposte Sith Rage Commander Effect Non-Unique 501st allies within 6 squares gain Cunning Attack. It's usually Vader, LOTF for me. He has a good CE that helps out all of his allies and he makes Arica just a little more flexible. But which Vader is most competitive kinda depends on how you use swap squads. Each person uses different kinds of imperial swap squads in different ways, so dpeending on your skill, they all can be competitive.

Thanks for the post. It is entirely a for-fun post, so I realize that each Vader is going to be stronger in certain situations, but what Vader do YOU prefer to use when you want to try and be competitive when using swap squads?

I personally think Lord Vader. Swap helps his (lower) Def. Unlike most Vaders, before you swap your ally doesn't need to be adjacent to the enemy in order to be able to use all of Vader's attacks. With Opportunist and Sith Rage, Lord Vader can attack 4 times for +18 for 40 damage. If you're up against someone with Block/Parry then you're +18 for 30 (Overwhelming Force). So possible 120-160, auto win Init and you can either Swap him out or if there is another enemy close you can rush after him for +14 for 30 (20 Overwhelming Force).

Personally, I will have to go with either Scourge of the Jedi Vader or Lord Vader, and Lord Vader will probably trump Scourge at this point because of the excellent Lord Vader squad that took 2nd at Gencon this year.
He has so much damage output from such a long distance when used with new Thrawn and gives Jarael an excellent damage boost when she is not getting opportunist from Thrawn!
Scourge on the other hand is extremely effective from even farther away (can attack an enemy twice within 12 squares of where ever he is swapped to using lightsaber throw) However, his max damage output just doensn't compare to Lord Vader, which means Lord Vader can more likely shut down a major threat or two before those pieces can do anything.

Lord Vader is my personal Favorite. As jedispyder said his offensive potiential is crazy AND he does it all after moving which is huge.
If i had to pick another one id say Unleashed. Him and Palps on Throne is really fun.

I love how each of these Vaders brings something totally different to the squad.
My favourites are Lord Vader and Darth Vader, Sith Apprentice. LV's damage output potential is simply astounding. He is a beast and can strike fear into an opponent. But you pay for it.
Sith Apprentice allows the use of Rex 501st, which is awesome, and he beefs up your mid-range shooter support. With MitThrawn the 501st Leigion commanders are great!

Love Lord Vader in the swap squad! I like legacy and scourge Vaders otherwise.

Vader Scourge simply because he's more bang for the buck. However, it is hard to argue against LV. I might have picked him but I enjoy being contrary to Weeks. Besides, ol' GenCon teammate, which one did I use? Hmmm?

I really want to say Jedi Hunter Vader, but his lack of mobility is his downfall. If only he had Greater Mobile...... I'll have to say......LORD VADER!

But it depends on the situation... Agreed. LV is all offense and very deadly, but you really don't want to swing first at Scourge, especially if Thrawn is on his team.

Lord Vader. Swap him in on a SSed Gran, move him out and LightSaber Assault with twin/Sith Rage/Opportunist. Vader Scourge is a close second for me for reasons already stated. Vader LoTF is 3rd. Triple, Djem, Reflect (the best one I might add) and a killer CE.

Lol...what's funny is that I texted him today and told him that LV was better.

I still go Scourge over LV. LV takes a very specific meta, and then some to make it work in today's game. You really have to go Ozzel and out activate everyone, as well as have all the Yobuck squads running Jedi Temple rather than another map choice :). Scourge gives you the ability to run without Ozzel, which is still better in swapping squads than with him on the whole, as well as gives you the points to get 2 other threats in the squad (Cad/Arden or Arica/Zuckuss have been the commonly preferred pairings - but the options aren't limited to those either). Food for thought, a Vader Scourge, Arica, Zuckuss squad would have been able to make a game out of the Gencon final, where the Ozzel version really cost him. Now, whether someone could have gotten to the Gencon final or not with it, who knows. But in general, I prefer the flexibility of a Non-Ozzel swap with three attackers to a straight ahead, win or lose big LV/Ozzel version.
