We still debate the intention of this Special Ability. And I can't get the Search function of this site to work today. Thanks in advance for your help.
The wording is: "Savage This character must end its move next to an enemy if it can and does not benefit from commander effects"
Some of us read it to mean "IF you move, you must end next to an enemy" - this option allows you to sit still 8 squares from an enemy and as long as you don't move, the movement penalty wont kick in.
Others say "you MUST move if you are within 12 or less squares of an enemy"
Which is it? I see how it can be read both ways and judging from the lack of discussion about the ability, it must be widely accepted as one of the two options above. But which one?
Thanks

You must move if you can reach an enemy and become adjacent to it.
The number of squares depends on the speed rating of the savage character. For example the Young Krayt Dragon has Speed 8, so it might be forced to move up to 16 squares.

Also, you should check out the Empathy special ability, which temporarily removes Savage while within 6 of the character who has it.

So, for example, when Quinlan Vos becomes Savage: -- if he can become adjacent to an enemy by moving 12 or less spaces, he must do so -- he is not mandated to use a Force Point to move extra to become adjacent You may choose to spend the FP if you choose (because you want to Double Attack or something), but you don't have to.

Im curious a to how you are saying that by spending a force point, he will be able to Double Attack after moving...

I think what Chargers meant was moving the extra to pull of double the next round. On a related note: Can you put Chewbacca, Enraged wookie in with Merumeru? His CE lets wookies in you squad, but Savage means you aren't subject to CE's.

His CE affects squadbuilding possibilities, not Chewbacca directly.

When do you check for empathy? at the start of the savages turn, or when you need to use the commander effect?
