I know the CEs don't stack but would having 2 rangefinders (say the Twi'lek Scouts) stack to a +8 bonus? What if they came from different sources like a Twi'lek Scout and an Aqualish Technician?

If not I guess Targeting -4 def does the same thing doesn't it. That would surely stack.

Unless otherwise mentioned, an ability never stacks with itself, so no.

ED is correct as usual. ThumpUp

To add to that, though, you may have two or more different abilities that have similar effects that would stack.

For example, if you were to have the following through SAs on the fig and/or CEs boosting the fig:

Cunning Attack +4/+10
Momentum +4/+10
vs Fringe enemy +4/+10
Poison +10

You would get the +12/+40 since they are separate, named abilities.

another good example is targeting and traps stack, or Flanking Support. for a -8 defense to a character (or -12 if you have all three)

I'm sorry, but I do not understand this interpretation. The character receiving the +4 attack isn't receiving the Rangefinder ability, so there's no situation where a named ability is being stacked. Why wouldn't the bonuses stack? I know it's not the same mechanic, but the principle would be the same as combining fire.

I looked this up in the FAQ, but could not find this ability listed. I also went back 8 pages on this forum (the search function does not work), but could not find this topic in the titles. I apologize if this has been answered in the recent past.

The principle isn't the same because combined fire is noted to be an exception to the stacking rules.

The rangefinders don't stack because while the character itself does not have the printed ability on them, they are still under the effects of the ability. And an ability does not stack with itself.

Think of it as a simple question:

Is this character under the effect of Rangefinder? YES/NO

How many rangefinders is irrelevant, the only thing that matters is if the character is affected or not.
