Ok so I just got back from HP7......... and IMHO it was the worst movie iv seen this year. total and undeniable garbage. Iv seen some bad movies in my time (the X-men 3, spider man 3 and charlies angels 2) but this one toke the cake, ate it, pooped it out, gave it back and then toke it again.
Why do i think this movie was bad. because they tried to return back to the books whilst deviating from the minor details. I went to see the book brought to life instead i saw harry potter and the deathly hallows's slightly retarded cousin (I dont care if you take offence from this because the world is going to politically correct anyway) bought to life.
Would go on and on about how it sucked but i havnt got time. If you havnt seen this movie dont, wait till it comes out and then borrow it off a friend who bought the dvd. not worth the 6 quid i paid

I'm going to disagree with you. I thought they did a wonderful job bringing the book to life. If I had the money I'd go see it again. This was better than the last few HP movies, due to it not being present in the last movie the wedding just came out of nowhere if you hadn't read the books.

In the light of fairness I will say that it is by far the best Harry Potter film of the lot. It fulfilled its purpose in making me want to go and see the final installment. It almost made me cry at the end...for those of you who know.
To me, the first 20-30 minutes were pure cinematic genius. Voldemort really stole the show right at the beginning with his big meeting, then the battle when Harry was being moved was fantastic. It put you right in the perspective of Harry, and it was basically exactly how he would have seen it. I was blown away by it.
Ron Weasley was annoying, but that has more to do with Rupert I think. I just find him bad as an actor. He wasn't enough to ruin it though.
I strongly recommend going to see it. We went to the english cinema on the cheap day, but they hiked the price up anway because they knew everyone would go watch it. That didn't annoy me in the least after having seen it.
It may have deviated from the book slightly, but as I read the book about 2 years ago I really don't remember what parts were missed out or not, but I feel it hit all the important points, included the most important events, and really got the atmosphere right of how the world would be if dark wizards were taking over. Obviously it wasn't perfect, but I don't think much more could have been done without turning it into a 3 hour job.
If you are looking for a scene for scene adaptation of the book then don't bother. If you are looking for 2 hours of brilliant story telling, action and emotionally charged exchanges between the three musketeers then go and watch it. Worth every penny. I am going to see it a second time next week. This will be only the third film that I have ever seen twice in the cinema, and I love films, and love the cinema.
Bring on part 2.

Bring on part 2. Agreed. lol not gunna quote the whole thing but i do agree the chase was epic. i supose its not everyones cup of tea but it would make others happy. and to be fair they did cram most of the book into that movie just so they could have a plausable ending. for me it was just the little things that ruined it like voldermort not turning up to godrics hollow which he did in the book and how the death eaters and the snatchers find them and the lack of back story to the elder wand but other then that it was a good film. If im honest i wrote this straight away when i got back and was not happy one bit but on reflection iv changed my mind slightly but not fully. in my eyes it was still a let down to the book but to the cinematic nature of the movie spot on. Lets hope the next instaulment blows me out of the water. (an epic long fight between harry and he who must not be named would be Fantastic)

Well i think they will cover the many names of the elder wand in part two if they cover it at all,but otherwise i was impressed and a little creeped out how they did the Deathly hollows story and i was a bit depressed about the lack of the invisablity cloak in Harry's ownership being connected to the story. The only thing that I really noticed being cut and being mad about however was wormtail not helping them and getting choked by the hand that you-know-who-gave-him. As for him not showing up at Gordic's Hollow,i felt that would have ruined the film somehow, but i'm exactly sure how at this point maybe with pacing... Theres going to be a lot in part 2 that that won't connect to anything due to them leaving out some of the subplots in the other movies if they included it all.

I have no idea how good or bad it is at adapting the book, as the last one I read was Order of the Phoenix. I think it has some problems, mainly in that it needs a little bit of extra exposition for those who aren't hardcore fans. Going mainly by the movies, stuff is shown that hasn't been seen in years in the movies. I still appreciate that it is a fine movie, in terms of story and acting. The leads have really grown in their acting skills, it will be interesting to see where they go from here (sadly, I think only Radcliffe and Watson will be big).

Look on the bright side: It'll make the eventual RiffTrax that much better.
