I have a Darth Revan custom, and was wondering if I could use it as the piece for the new Revan in tournies. It's obviously Revan so there wouldn't be any confusion on what it is. Does anyone know if they'd let me play it?

It should be fine as long as it is clear to both players what the piece represents, and sounds like its pretty obvious. :)

Yep, that's the plan! As long as it's clear to both players, and the judge is OK with it too.

This will be a bit of a new era with many SWM players, having to get used to seeing somewhat varied forms of characters on the table. Will require some extra grace and patience from all of us. ;)

Maybe the Tournament Organizers should allow a couple minutes before the start of every match for each person to clarify what each figure represent.

Not a bad idea and it definately needs to be done before setup. If you think the shadow stormtrooper is a shadow stormtrooper, not the CI officer, that could spell some problems for the whole game.

Well, if your opponent is playing Mandalorians, and has a Shadow Stormtrooper on his squad, it should be pretty obvious that he's either got an illegal squad (mixed faction) or he's utilizing DOTF pieces. Besides, doesn't pretty much everybody start each match with "What's your squad? May I glance through the cards?" or something to that effect. Typically whenever I sit down, even at big events like GenCon, I just ask the opponent if we can swap cards, then glance through what he's got. Removes confusion about whether things are V Set pieces or original ones, especially if the opponent is using a fully customized piece, and not just the DOTF Recommended Mini.

I'd honestly be more worried about confusion if the opponent has 5 different custom painted Mandos to represent the different DOTF pieces. That would be more confusing that just using the RMs off the cards. But yes, that should be included in the set up time, which would include Map roll and such. Honestly, I don't think that more time would need to be allowed for set up. Many people take way too long to set up as it is at big events. :P
