Interesting. So I wake up this morning to find this in my mailbox: In other A Call to Arms news, I can now report that we did not manage to grab the licence we were chasing for the game - Star Wars. We weren't really expecting this one to happen (we made a sideways reference to it in the State of the Mongoose), but we got much further along than we thought we would.
The interesting thing is why our negotiations ended - another company beat us to it. We are not going to reveal who this is (you have heard of them), as that is their fanfare to blow. However, I am sure many will find it intriguing that the licence covers card games, RPGs, and... miniatures. Now, the company concerned is not known for its miniatures lines, which will probably put paid to my dream of 28mm multipart/multipose Stormtroopers.
But you never know...LINKYSo I wonder who wound up with it? There are few companies out there that could pull it off - WotC, obviously (but they're out of the running), Paizo (who from memory didn't want it - although apparently the CEO Lisa Stevens is a huge Star Wars Fan), Mongoose (who didn't win it), and Green Ronin (but I have not heard if they were after it). Any others?

Games Workshop? they did amazingly well with the lord of the rings sets right after the movies, they could do a release as the 3d movies come out

Rumor I've seen around the web is Fantasy Flight Games. Don't know how much stock to put in the rumors and how much is just hope. Apparently, they do a lot of RPG and board game stuff. If true, it appears the same number of people are happy FFG would do something as the number of people upset. That's the beauty of the internet though! Time will tell, but it's something to speculate upon for a little while anyway.

And really though, the SW universe fits perfectly with the Warhammer game style. Your commons to the lords to the uniques are all there. And with the multiple factions.... this is my new christmas wish (forget world peace)
