So I'm at Best Buy today, picking up a printer during the mad post holiday sales, when I find a stack of Knights of the Republic boosters up by the registers! Sweet - that's one of the sets I'm actually missing a bunch from! So I scoop them all up, along with a couple of Legacy of the Force too, figuring what the hell.

I get home and start tearing into my boosters with rampaging enthusiasm. . . only to find that the bottom of the box opened really, really easy, and the the double tab on the inner flaps were missing. Wait - what?

I go through the box - the cards are in a ziplock baggie instead of the sealed bag and all the boosters are commons. Some jack-hole got into the booster before me, stole all the good stuff and returned it.

I check the next booster - same condition. Third one, yup - missing the rare. As it turns out all of the boosters had been pawed through. The weird thing - either the lowlife thief was looking for something in particular or was dumb as a sack of hammers. They left the Darth Scion behind, a 25+ dollar figure!

So, to sum up: people suck. And from now on, I'll be keeping a close eye on the condition of the boosters I get at the store. And this crap (except for the Scion) is going back to the store first thing in the morning!

Unfortunate. I always checked because sometimes it's too good to be true. Um, uh, Looking for a Darth Sion trade? I will make it worth your while....

This is a prime example as to why retail employees have little to no faith in humanity.

I had a similar thing happen to me at the store where I worked recently. Someone had taken several of the pokemon tins (a tin with a small window showing off a promo card and contains several boosters), cracked them all open, opened the boosters, took all the rares and promos, stuffed the remaining cards back in the tin, then placed the tins back on the shelf.

Hey, where I live, Best Buy usually takes info on people who make returns. You should have them track the original returner d-bag's address or whatever, just in case they were dim enough to give real info. Then they could get charged with shoplifting or something.

Ya Agreed, Ive been finding this more and more. You've learned a valuable lesson unfortunately. Just double check that the bottom of the boxes are not squished to the side and pieces fished out. Sorry this happened to youCursing

Well, the good side - unless I wind up finding some boosters that I just dont have any of, I think I'm out of the buying boosters game and just gonna pick up singles and trade for what little I need.

Anyway, an update to my story. This morning I went back this morning to make the swap, and ran headlong into the Best Buy system that clearly says "Do no return if opened" - normally a perfectly sensible policy. However since it was clear that I had gotten screwed (even finding some more boosters on the shelf in the same condition, helping out my case), the lady was sympathetic. After some head scratching, she just swapped a couple that were on the shelf that were not opened and returning the rest of my boosters as "unopened" and calling it good.

The kicker to the story? Out of the untampered boosters, I pulled two Ultra Rare Nomi Sunriders. So I got three URs out the 4 boosters - this guy was either stupid, incompetent or just looking for very specific figures!

I was lucky I did find a LotR booster opened so I took it to the clerk and said I may be interested in buying this if it's complete and had a good minis in it, so can I look. Sure enough it was all there and had a Darth Nihl. So yea I was interested. I did this before with a LotR booster and it was a Moff Nyna Calixte and I wasn't interested in that one.

There's been a couple of times where I found a booster that had it's side ripped open and the figures obviously gone through - and yet all 7 were there (including some high priced VR figures). I've even managed to get the store to knock 10% off the damaged item.

Anyway, so back to my current condition. So going through my LotF boosters, I notice that the Lumia had her hand/lightwhip broken off. Sheesh! I cant win! So this time I decide "screw it" and go to Target, where the boosters are untainted. If I'm going to get stuck with a set I'm nearly done with, I'm getting one that's still sealed, blastedit!

So I make the swap, get store credit and head off to the boosters. Only a couple of LotF, but a bunch of Galaxy at War - oh, sure, I figure. I might as well, since I need more from GaW than I do LotF. My two boosters? My second Cad Bane and a Mar Tuuk - one of the few I didn't have yet!

So thanks to this nimrod, I wound up with two awesomely tradeable VRs, two moderately tradeable VRs and a figure I didn't have. Thanks Thieving Douchebag!

sadly; not so. Once when i went to target i was walking down the toys aisle looking for some boosters and found a lone TFU booster on a shelf. When i picked it up the bottom popped open and a PROXY popped out. Yeesh.

Another time i went to the trading cards section all targets have near the registers and found a GaW booster completely ripped open ver obviously. Inside i saw an admiral yularen! So i took it to the register and asked if there was a discout. They said NO because 'nothing (inside) was open'. I decided to pass since yularen wasnt worth 9 bucks to me.

Okay, I'll grant you that Target may not be free of pilfering, but that Best Buy was 100% certain to be tainted with open boosters while the Best Buy had a much lower chance of tainted boosters. Oh, and believe you me, I checked the seals on those bad boys like you wouldn't believe.

what seals do boosters have (besides CW ones)? Those scums are pretty sneaky if they can get past booster seals...

Well, sealed in that the flaps were still firmly glued shut. They were intact enough to my eye that I felt secure buying them.
