how effective are the yuuzhans against force users? i've read that you can just basically thud bug them to death, but the glossary rules states that the save of 11 negates both the 10 damage and activation. so, if the opponent suddenly strikes a whirlwind of awesome lucky dice roll, the yuuzhan squad is pretty much screwed huh?

The YV are very effective against force users. thud bug is just one of their many tricks. Thud Bug, Razor Bug, Force Immunity, Jedi Hunter, Vonduun Crab Armor, Twin Attack, and big boosts to damage and attack from commanders. They'll eat jedi for lunch!

Here's an example:
Assume you have a Shaper and a Preatorite Vong Priest in the same squad. A wounded Vong Jedi Hunter attacking GMLS would have a +17 Attack doing 40 Damage a hit that GMLS cannot Lightsaber Defense or re-roll his Djem So saves using FPs. Then the Vong JH gets to do that again using Twin. So, in all likely hood, you just had one guy drop Luke to less than half HPs in a single activation.
The problem Vong have is they have no in-faction shooting support. They have to rely on Fringe pieces to do that for them. Which is ok, but those Fringe characters will loose out on many of the CEs/SAs that boost the other Vong (and just the other Vong) in the rest of the squad.
Sincerely, Jester007

Err no, Luke can still use it, all it means is that if luke fails the save of 11 he cannot use a force point to reroll the save. Go's back to your oringinal point, lucky dice rolls are just that "lucky" and no real defense against it, however this would apply to any such saves like Evade/Parry- Thud Bug from any faction that has it, not just Vong. Really the only benift is no force points to reroll. Well except the ones that now have vong sense as they can.

The reason thud bug is so brutal, is because jedi cannot reroll a save against vong. I nombomb squad with all scouts could dominate any jedi focused squad.

Case in point, two years ago at the Chicago Regional, Lobostele was running GOWK (before the banning and rule change to SSM) against a Vong Scout/Nom swarm in round two. He lost the game because he went something like 26/28 on failing thud bug saves the entire game. No amount of MotF and FPs can help you against the thud :) Now, the odds against that happening are astronomical, but it was still pretty funny to see it happen.

I have an Squad that Three Characters could, in some conditions, deal 160 points of damage each one in a single turn, I think is a good advantage against a Jedi, greettings.
