I've suddenly began to question myself on this point. I've never played a tournament, so I've never come across this. I've been playing with my son that Combined fire only applies to the first instance of a twin attack, when a character has twin attack. Have I been playing this wrong? I know you don't get the bonus for double or extra without choosing a new character to combine fire with, but now I'm confused if you get the bonus(es) for both the twin attacks, as they are part of a single attack.

Nothing to worry about. You've been playing it correctly.
When you combine fire, it is for one attack. That can be the first of a Twin, the second, the first of a Double, the second of a Double, etc. Different allies can combine with the first or second of either. Leia's bonuses (like a +4 attack, +10 damage) would apply to the first of the Twin. Other bonuses, like Cunning or Sith Rage or many others, would apply to any attack if the situation is correct.

What about spotting? Does the bonus apply for the entire attack series, or just for one twin, or one double, ect?

Spotter only applies to a singular attack.

All the bounus from CE or CF, applies to a single attack, but the bonus from ability apply to all attacks, greettings.

Leia's CE is like this, because it says "ONE attack at +4 Atk and +10 Dam". Which is why Djem So Mastery works like that, because of the wording. Most things that apply to attacks generally apply to all. Plenty of CE's also apply to to Twin Attack.
