A simple question here for Melee Reach 2.

Card Text
When attacking, this character treats enemies up to 2 squares away as adjacent

Glossary Text
When making an attack on its own turn, this character treats all characters within 2 squares as adjacent for all purposes. This character can be affected by enemy special abilities or Force powers that specify adjacent characters and interrupt this attack, such as Self-Destruct.

If my character is in green here, what does count as an ennemy 2 squares away. Only the 4 in orange, or even the yellow ?

I have always played it as just those four orange squares are the melee reach 2 squares.

The yellow squares are not two squares away, they are three and four squares away.. You don't count diagonally.

Agree, Diagonally counts double, so it isn't at two squares, greettings.

Yes but it's seems weird to me because normal adjacent targets are all aroud a square, not just north, west, est and south... :s

Yeah it took me a little while to wrap my head around it. Adjacent is adjacent. But melee reach requires you to count the range to your target, which means the diagonal counting as two squares thing comes into play. It make Melee Reach 2 much less impressive than I first thought as a n00b.

That's because "adjacent" is not the same as 1 square away. Diagonal squares are adjacent, but they are still two squares away when counting, weather it be MR range, CE range, movement, etc. Regular melee attacks can be made either 1 square or 2 squares away, because it isn't a counting range. It's adjacent. Then you look in the rulebook for what counts as an "adjacent" character, and you find that all characters 1 square away, and those 2 away on the diagonals count as "adjacent".

Nothing has changed. The best use of Melee reach 2 has always been reaching over the head of one of your melee pieces to directly reach the same target.

Tell that to WEWs... BlooMilk

Think about hitting someone from 2 away (nonadjacent for anyone not having Melee Reach) and then forcing them to move to you, thereby usually negating their double/triple/quad attack.

Agree, it's help a lot to prevent the use of multiple attack of melee Characters, greettings.

Not totally beneficial, but it can help out in certain situations.
Of course, you'd have to be willing to spend the points to meet those circumstances, which is where I don't even bother.
