6 squares (or line of sight) has pretty much been the staple for swm from the beginning. force lightning, grenades, poison darts... (with the exception of kouhun with 12) etc. so, should swm follow this trend (which could make the game more interesting and more realistic to star wars) or keep most abilities and force powers at 6 squares or under (making the game easier to play and taking less time).

While I don't think SWM needs a change in pace, I do like the idea of having range more than just 6 squares.

Im not quite sure as well whats being asked here. What does 'change of pace' mean? On a side note; as far as FPs and SAs being changed to LOS instead of Range 6 could very well break the game. Besides; we already have effects that are LOS: LS Throw 3/5, Grip, and Push 4. Its bad enough having Rebels mobilig Pushing (4) across the board; but having Lightning and Darts LOS? I truly think that would revolutionize the game (in a bad way). Which so much access to mobile and stealth; characters could pretty much camp and mobile out/stick in cover and keep firing Lightning/Darts at enemies. GMLS would die quickly along with melee beats would pretty much die; lol IMHO. Auto-damage is extremely underrated nowadays.

I think he's referring to abilities going forward, not abilities that already exist, and I also don't think he's totally advocating changing everything to LOS, but maybe to range 10 or 12, or something like that. Just my interpretation. I personally like the within-6 restriction on abilities because it puts the piece at risk when using the ability, because most pieces will be able to run up those 6 spaces and attack. It's a good balance.

A lot of SA's and Force Powers already have a longer range than 6.
Such as Lightsaber Throw 3 Sith Grip Razor Bug Shatterbeam Furious Assault Charging Assault Missiles To name a few
Plus a lot of commander effects that are not limited to 6 squares.
While i have nothing against SA's or Force Powers having a range more than 6 squares, not sure more are necessary

6 should remain the standard. Whether an abilty gets a different range, it should be compared to why as compared to the standard of 6. And if anything, I would rather see more abilities with lesser range, than greater.

I don't want to see A fundamental part of this game changed if thats what is being asked. Making new characters with a greater range for abilities would make the old one obsolete. One of the great things about the new set is that older figures are being able to be used. I don't want to see that changed either.

Let's make Kouhun Infestation range 24. 12 just doesn't cut it On a serious note, I like range of 6 as the baseline for the majority of things. Im cool with seeing Jarael having speed 8 (makes sense) and specialty moves like Kouhun Infestation with a range 12 because it is replace turn so you can't move 6 and do it to get a range higher than 12. You can already move 6 and lob a grenade 6 for a total "range" of 12. Higher ranges are easy to balance by using "replace turn" but then some one goes and swaps the figure with another and... well you know the rest I think moves that have a higher (or lower) range would be great and would welcome them. I just don't want something different for the sake of being different. The move/ability should justify the change from the norm and "make sense".

It's hard to make sense of a proposed change without knowing what it's trying to achieve. What would increasing ranges generally accomplish? Are you trying to weaken melee? Improve force powers? The motive baffles.

I dont think we need to change it. We with customs & the V-set creators can drop in any SE, FA or CE that can increase/decrease range attacks and speed. No need to change that.
Unless there is a thought out plan that shows how things are wrong.
