I was looking at the New Republic/Rebel Reinforcements 30 ability of Garm Bel Iblis and wanted to get a clarification on it.

If I am using him in a Rebel squad do the Reinforcements I bring in have to be Rebel or can they be New Republic? It would seem that the intent of the text:

During setup, after seeing your opponent's squad, you can add up to 30 points of non-Unique New Republic or Rebel characters to your squad
would imply that you would bring the Reinforcements from the same faction as the squad build but I have also read some things on this site (at least I think it was here) about wording loopholes allowing you to do things that otherwise may have not been intended when they were written.

No they can be from either faction regardless. Some people who play NR bring in the Ithorian Commander for the extra melee bonus.
