I have a question about stackable bonuses and I hope the answer is yes (else my buddy is going to kill me)
“Stacking
In general, the effects produced by Force powers, special abilities, commander effects, and cover stack (are cumulative) with each other. For example, Darth Vader, Imperial Commander grants trooper followers a +6 bonus on Defense. If a Snowtrooper in Vader's squad is also in a square containing low objects, he gets an additional +4 bonus to Defense for cover, for a total bonus of +10.
Unless otherwise specified, no effect produced by a Force power, special ability, commander effect, or cover stacks with itself. For example, a Clone Trooper Commander can give nearby trooper followers a +3 bonus to Attack, but two Clone Trooper Commanders together can’t give a trooper follower a +6 bonus.”
One of my favorite squads has General Grievous, Supreme Commander (+4 attack and dbl attack to droids allies within 6) and a battle droid officer (fire control +4 attack) and a super battle droid commander (careful shot +4 attack to allied droids within 6 who don’t move)
All the effects have different names, so we have been playing that they all stack giving a poor little 4 pt battle droid a 12 attack instead of a 0.
Am I playing this correctly?

Yes. Greivous's CE grants a straight Atk bonus, whereas the Super Battle Droid Commander's CE grants a Special Ability. Fire Control is a Special Ability. This is covered in the Commander Effects section of the glossary.
