Recently I played a match where my squad faced a YoBuck squad, and my squad did so much damage and killed off everything except for YoBuck himself. He was down to 40 hp and he couldn't attack me or he would die. So the player I was facing ran away round after round and locked doors so I couldn't get to him. My question is whether a player has to play to win. Are they forced to come out and fight, or are they allowed to lock doors and runaway? I just wanted a little clarification on what playing to completion meant?

If only Yobuck was left, how was he locking doors?
But, yes, call a judge and he will likely get called for stalling...
Also, you can alternatively sit in gambit and quick spin your activations to burn rounds and get to 200 quickly.

It really depends. I wouldn't call it a clear cut case of stalling without seeing the actual score was and what the game board looked like. In the end, it would be the judge's discretion.

Yobuck wasn't the only piece left, I was being general. Yobuck was his only big piece. Yobuck had 40 hp. he also had an r2 Astromech and I had Darth Bane. So he just locked the door to block Bane and ran away. This happened for about 3 maybe 4 rounds. After the match we talked about playing to completion and we were not sure if you were allowed to do this or not.

After 5 turns of no combat the games is over.

I know that, my question was, are there any tournament rules that makes an opponent have to attack you? Or are you in theory allowed to get up on gambit, run away and lock doors, or are you forced to engage and fight as if you are trying to completely defeat their squad?

It could be stalling, as others said, I'd have to see the specifics to say for sure, but odds are this could have been called. In addition, lockout victories earn 2 points. They are not completed games, and cannot earn the full 3pt win. Those two pretty well eliminate your scenario from competitive play. Doesn't mean it won't happen from time to time however, and in certain situations it would be a totally legit, even if distasteful, way to win a tough game. Again, couldn't really say without seeing the game in person, but I think you get the idea.

Part of the problem would be defining "engagement" in an objective and enforceable way. "No attacks, damage, or saves for 5 turns" works because it isn't subjective.
