Is any one here familiar with the old SWM game from West End? I have tried to find what i can via google searching, bit info is sparce. From what i read, it was a sqaud focused tactics game that utilized equipment and the likes.

I'm curious... the core rule book is relatively cheap, how easy would it be to play with wizards SWM pieces? Is it worth picking up? How different is it from WotC SWM?

I haven't touched that rule set in about 12 years, so I am not the best to comment, but I don't see why you couldn't use the rules with WOTC Minis over the old metal ones. they aren't much larger for the purposes of the games scale.

If the rule book is as cheap as you say, I say go for it. And it is a great bit different than WOTC, a lot more pen n paper, rulers and measuring tapes, and don't forget all your 6 sided dice.

My local game store still sells the books West End made. The ones your talking about. I was checking them out the other day. They made a squad based game and then they made some of the older RPG rule books. I even still have some of them, the RPG books. Not sure which ones off the top of my head but I'd be more than willing to part with them if you want them. Smile

Just a guess, but might you be talking about Zombie Planet? If you are in Albany?

Why yes, yes I am. My favorite store. BigGrin The owner is a pretty cool guy. As are the people who work there. ThumpUp I love that store! I was going to go there today but I got side tracked. I've plunked down quite a bit of cash there over the years. All for our game. It's my only hobby so it's worth it. Wink

I lived in Schenectady for a year and found my way there fairly fast haha. I get there every time I make a trip to that area as well. I have to say it's one of the better gaming stores I've been to as far as their stock is concerned, but I liked Earth World better for comics. The people in there love to talk haha.

I miss living up there.

That's cool, too bad you don't still live in the area. We could have a few gaming sessions. BigGrin There is another store just down the road from there called Flights of Fantasy. It's a decent store. Although the stock isn't the greatest they make up for it with lots of other gaming stuff. ThumpUp

That store name sounds familiar, my buddy might have mentioned it to me. He said he found another place that sold minis, so that could be it.

I come around the Albany area every 2 months or so generally, I'll give you a shout next time.

QUEEN’S HAND MAIDEN-X12

FEMALE HUMAN SOLDIER-X10 (Naboo armor)

SCOUT HUMAN FEMALE-X2

SCOUT HUMAN MALE-X2

RODIAN SOLDIER-X17

RODIAN SCOUNDREL-X3

SCOUNDREL HUMAN FEMALE-X1

I hear greentime talk about this game all the time. Just from hearing stories about it I'd say go for it. The system is d6 i think. I have a very blurry vision about playing it as a kid, I seemed to be having a good time in said vision.

Yup, it's right off of Wolf road it sits a little off the beaten path. From Zombie Planet you head west on central ave, till you hit wolf rd, take a right heading north and your first right after Colline Center is the road Flights of Fantasy is on. It's across the street from a school. BigGrin

Oh ya, give me a shout the next time your in the area Dime. I could use some customizing tips as well as someone to play some mini's with. That would be cool. My son plays too so we could always meet up with ya at Zombie Planet. ThumpUp

@ Jedi Christian, hey dude where did you find the WotC made metal mini's? I had wanted to get some of them too. Smile Do you like them? They need to be painted correct?

I have thought about buying the West End Squad based rule books, as of now I just have a couple of the older RPG books. But it would be nice to see how they have the rules and such set up. I'm not too hot on rolling a lot of d6's but I'll get over that if it's a fun game. Wink

In addition to the RPG, WEG also produced three books for miniature play.

The troops on troops battles are pretty good, but "hero" characters can become insanely overpowered.

I got lucky and picked them up on e-bay. I ended up being the only bidder. But, yes you have to paint them.

Cool beans, did you do any searching online for them at all? If so could you post some links if you have any to post. Smile I can use the practice painting for when I start on painting my customs. Wink

most sites won't have them listed at all, but a few places still had maybe 1 figure in stock, one kind that is.

Pretty rare stuff, even on ebay generally. cheaper to test paint on the prepainted minis, as the metal ones might cost a pretty penny unless you are lucky.

Here is a link to at least see what the old metal WOTC minis were like

That is a good spot to see them. Thanks for the link. I like the fact that there are some that was never made for the miniatures game. For instance the female soldier is the naboo palace guard, hand maidens, cereans, rodian solders that we never got (even though they made tons of rodians).

very similar size, the scale is the same for the most part. They would at least match up next to rebel storm era minis from what I recall

Actually they are much smaller. A WEG Stormtrooper is about the size of an CotF Ugnaught Demolitionist.

If you have Star Wars Monopoly the tokens are WEG miniatures.

i believe he was asking about the WOTC metal minis if I am not mistaken.

WEG minis are pretty tiny as you said. I had a lot of them at one point.
