Three cheers for the V-Set designers!
Now, what's for favorite and least favorite piece of V-Set 3 (Cantina Brawl included)?
Here's your chance to sound off!

My favorite: Wuher

I don't know how practical this guy is, but "we don't serve their kind here" sounds like a lot of fun. I love how it nerfs the mouse droid dump, and adds a layer of strategy to lobot's reinforcements. Also, his special abilities seem to capture the flavor of the character very well.

My least favorite: Omni, Shamed One

I think V-Set one hit a "grand slam" with the Yammosk. But, I think Omni from this set is lacking. I just think he is too expensive to be played, and his "puppet master" ability is a bit too familiar to be played in casual games.

Anyways, what do you think?

On the whole I love the set(s).

I could never pick just 1BigGrin

I love:
Marka Ragnos - Very fun with Discipes, cool CE, and he's a tank
Sith Alchemist - I love the Alchemy stuff
Savage Oppress - I HATE this character, but love the mini. At last, A Living Sep to fear!
Grand Admiral Rulf Yage - Tons of awesome squad synergies just opened up. He's fun with Krayt.
Nightsister Mother - Loving the Nightsiset theme
Jaden Korr - Packs a lot of punch, but well balanced by poor survivability
Nightsister on Rancor - I don't think I need to explain this, do I?
Tyber Zann - Very different, interesting mini. I love the wrinkle he brings for Reinforcement builds
Pre Viszla - A lot of fun and very flavorful. "FAILURE!"
Prefect Da'Gara - Another piece with strong flavor, and he bring important new things to Vong
Ben Kenobi - He is a lot of fun
Wuher - I love the Mouse Droid hate

I very strongly dislike:
Jedi Shadow - with Bastila he's WAAY to powerful (80 damage output) for his cost.
Foul Moudama - This is a cool mini, but I don't like the Republic essentially having 2 Tow figs at all.
Galen Marek - I think he's overcosted. I don't know exactly what he needs, but he needs something else
Vergere - I like her in isolation. If Coral Implants was available only to Jacen/Caedus she'd be awesome. The synergy with Zannah is a huge sore-spot for me. I get that the Lumiya/Zannah/Vergere build is flawed offensively, but SSM + VCA 6 is an abomination IMHO. The only thing that could be worse IMO is an Obi-Wan with something like SSM / Diplomat.

I just don't feel the new luke. I get that he can be a accurate twin attacker for 30 dmg a pop, but I'm just not feeling it. I guess I was looking for something I would play over commando.

Favorite is much harder to figure out. Love what this faction has brought to the mandos and sith. Dig the new commando droids too

I always enjoy these threads because it's nice to see feedback (both loves and hates), and it's also interesting to see differing opinions on what's good or bad, and even what's too good or too bad.

My favorite overall is, as I've mentioned, Corran Horn. A new backbone to NR squads is really welcome to spice up the faction. My second favorite is Tyber Zann; he's a pretty strong attacker (relatively easily getting a 60 Damage shot), but Bribery is really where it's at with him. I think it makes Reinforcements SO much more interesting. Before now there was maybe 4 or 5 sets of Reinforcements that people would always pick from with few variations; now you have to think a whole lot more about it. I'm sure that eventually there will be boiler plate anti-Tyber Reinforcement options (basically stuff that you bring in with Lobot if you're facing Tyber), but if there are 4-5 of those in addition to the 4-5 regular Reinforcement options, we just doubled the number of standard Reinforcement options!

My least favorite is kind of difficult since I was a designer on this set. Overall I'm quite happy with the set, but of course I'd be lying if I said that everything came out how I wanted it to. I think that Galen is a little lackluster in the Rebel faction (although he can be pretty solid as an Imperial), and I would have liked him to be better there, but it was difficult to make him good in Rebels and not too good in Imperials. Tenel Ka never really struck me as anything worth writing home about, but she was intended to be one of the lower powered characters (with a CE that just gets better as the NR gets more characters to benefit from it). I wish we had done something a little more interesting with Wuher and with Figrin D'an. Both are pretty good pieces, but I think some ideas came up in design that got passed on that were really interesting (although they might have messed up the balance of the pieces some and we really didn't want to make a 25 point Figrin D'an).

My favorite right now is Foul Moudama. He can tow 14 spaces with a fp, has good survivability, and can cause some damage if need be. Pure Awesome!

As for a least favorite, I don't have strong feelings against any one piece yet. So if I have to pick I'm gonna go with the OR Trooper, mainly cause I was hoping for 4 attacks.

I will break the rules and go by faction; too many pieces to go over for 2 to justify.

OR
Fav: Belth Allusis. Had to wookieepedia him, but the stats and abilities are pretty sweet for creating a decent squad with lots of self-sacrifice.

Least: Vandar. I know he is the same species as yoda, but he's too much like him.

Sith
Fav: Marka Ragnos. I'm really glad one was finally made, and he's not a paint-by the numbers sith lord

Least: Also Ragnos. I think an opportunity was missed with his ability to possess people, but maybe the Spirit will have something like that.

Republic
Fav: Eeth Koth. I love how Crucitorn was expressed through Embrace of Pain.

Least: Really don't like Foul Moudama. I see his cost and his stats, and the lift ability, and then I look to see that there must not be double attack because of what he already has, but it's there. Then I also see Rend, and I think wow, this guy is amazing for his cost, and then I see that force leap will make the lift a lot better, and I think wow this guy is REALLY amazing for his cost, and then I see that he has lightsaber defense. Probably my least favorite piece in the set, at least in a LS faction.

Seps
Fav: Updated Dwarf. It's good to see this piece pretty playable.

Least: Don't really have one.

Rebels:
Fav: Jek Porkins. Keep those unique rebel/NR pilots coming!

Least: Don't really have one.

Imps:
Fav: Jerec. If there is a mini that better represents it's intended character, I can't think of it.

Least: Rulf Yage. I'm guessing that his low cost is due in part due to Internal strife, but even if this guy never fires a shot he still seems too worth his points. Not nearly to the extent of Foul though.

NR
Fav: Love both Corran a Jaden. Apporpriate cost but still very useful.

Least: Don't really have one.

Fringe:
Fav: Malakili. Pretty much exactly what I wanted for Savages since right after the V-set effort started, and onm the most appropriate character for it. The Rapport is an extra bonus.

2nd fav: Felucian Shaman. Aura is hard to pull off, but is just darn cool.

Least: Baran Do Sage. Love the ability, really dislike the cost. 5 points more is appropriate. Melee already has been boosted enough by the V-sets at this point, such a cheap range-breaker is too much too soon.

Mandalorians: I never much care about what the mandos get or don't get

Vong: Love Vergere, lots of abilities, accurate portrayal, good cost.

Dislike

nightsister mother
vergere (when a yv faction piece is stronger in another faction, it's a bad thing)
foul moudama (how many movement breakers can the republic get?)

Overall, the best vset yet.

I watched a game with Jedi Shadow in playtesting and thought they were way overpowered. I don't know if they were toned down after that, but they still look overpowered on paper. And eventually they'll even effectively have Master of the Force 2. (Hopefully it's not a true force battery they're drawing on - i.e. no renewal.)

I like Galen just fine. He might be have a cost too high for the competitive meta, but in general I think the Vsets should err on the side of high costs whenever there's a doubt. One overpowered piece can really, really ruin things. An overcosted piece doesn't mess with the balance at all.

Favorite: Marka Ragnos. I really love Sith Sorcery, and having another beatstick with MOTF 2 and Sorcery is great fun. But there are so many that I love in both sets.
Least: Elite Commando Droid. I think it was a missed opportunity.

Favorite: Tyber Zann! He messes with your day and stops the mouse droid spam.
Runners up:
Savage Opress, so strong and the new nightsister on the separatists build is my new favorite non-droid team.
Vergere, armor for everyone! Ironically balanced by the rancor keepers CE. Also she helps ou with and new republic Jedi more then anyone else.

Favourite non-unique:
Advanced Dwarf Spider Droid, like it has been said great abilities that properly reflect this character and make him playable.
Runners Up:
Nightsister on Rancor, I know huges suck but this one gives me hope, also dismount is sweet; just had to find a good squad for her
Zann Consortium Defiler, Forces of Corruption! Yes score! These guys rock with the goldeneye proximity mines.

Least
Wuher, counter mouse droids I understand, battle droids and the rest of the unloved mechanical bits and you just make wat, Dooku, and Kazdan less playable the they were. His one saving grace is that Tyber can steal him but as much as I hate the mice I dislike the hate for the other droids.
Runners up:
Onimi, as the real head of the Vong he's extremely underwhelming and hard to play for his cost. Also no direct boost for Shimmra?
Jek Porkins wasted spot

Non uniques:
Ugnaught Jedi I don't like anything about this character haha. Again stop hating on the swarms (tuskens, battle droids, stormtroopers, rebels should not be taken out by a 19 point ugi.
Jedi Shadow, agree he is way to overpowered with Bastilla

I still enjoyed this set a lot for the cool theme builds. Aside from the shadow and to a lesser extent Vergere there were no major balance upsets or broken pieces so good job! Already looking forward to number 4

The dislike of Jek is surprising to me. He's cheap, has good HP for a figure with evade (that he is granted from a CE)

Of course, I like playing Luke HOY, so maybe that's why I like him.

But him with Dash and Dutch could get nasty at least as nasty as 13 points gets.

Now I haven't had a chance to play many of the pieces but these are first impressions of a few I have played and others I'm just looking forward to

Favorites
Nomi: Love what was done with her, and she has a lot of fun utility. Love Force Pull, her Force Ability, plus great stats, all around just fun.
Corran Horn: He is a blast, and my favorite kind of piece. A New Republic Jedi! A great re-do of the Classic Corran. My only complaint is that he doesn't have MOTF 2, but with his force powers he would burn out his FP so quickly (and it would increase his cost so much) that it is probably good he doesn't have it.
Vergere: She goes incredibly well with one my favorite pieces of all time: Jacen Solo, Jedi Knight. Makes him even better with Crab Armor and potential Force Spirit! That is unless he gets stuck in Palleaon's force-free zone and can't do much...and fails a bunch of his crab armor saves. That wasn't so good.... Just ask FlyingArrow.
Jerec: Haven't played him yet, but he is a great representation of the character and seems really really fun.

Least Favorite:

I'm not the biggest fan of Porkins just because it is an easy joke, that I don't think is very funny, the piece itself is solid.

Anyone have a favorite new Mechanic? Maybe not a piece as a whole, but something that seems really exciting?
Personally I love Force Essence. I think it is such a great, simple idea that can be incredibly effective and gives pieces so many options. Personally I hope we get a Luke and Yoda with Force Essence. Anakin Skywalker would be weird...but Luke and Yoda I'm all for! (and I think we need a new NR Luke anyway.)

Enjoying the learning curve that this new set brings! Woot

Favorite - Dessel BlooMilk BlooMilk BlooMilk

What's not to like about him blasting away every round, just need to get him twin... ThumbsUp

Least Favorite - Uggie Jedi No Bloo Milk No Bloo Milk No Bloo Milk

Really? ThumbDown

Honorable Mention - Bothan Sabby, Fi, Ordo & Foul BlooMilk

IMO these pieces each in their own right add more utility, than the bombastic high cost recasts we see in this set.

Seriously? Where do you begin? So much outstanding stuff to choose from. I'm going to have a lot of fun playing every single faction with pieces added from this set. Everyone got something either fun or amazing.

Here's a few that haven't gotten much (or any) love in this list so far:

Carnor Jax - looking forward to running him with Thrawn and Imperial Governor Tarkin!

Momaw Nadon - can't wait to ruin someones day with War Throat!

Prefect Dagara - lots if Vong fun on the horizon!

Galen Marek - sure he may not be perfect but its a new Apprentice option that will be totally fun!

Atin and Fi - there are suddenly lots of great Swiss army knife pieces to slide into Republic squads w/ the RC's in the last two sets. Bueno!

And I don't know if I am going to use Figran D'aan much but I can't wait to paint a Bith Rebel black. I may need to add another accessory too!

Nomi hasn't gotten too much love and while I'm not sure how much I will use her I already put her CE to great use the lone time I ran her. Letting the Exile's Repulse range increase to 6 worked wonders for me!

And hey, what about poor Greedo? Only 17 points for stickum? I can work that in somewhere for sure.

One quick question for all the Jedi Shadow hate. Does anyone really see him being able to survive a long time? And are you really that scarred of him hitting on every single one of his attacks against one of your beats?

And speaking of hate, I love Foul Moudama. Spot on flavor! ThumpUp

I am really interested too see what happens to the meta following these last two sets (including the mini sets). Im hoping we see even more diversity. I think it can all be really good for the game.

Favorite: Malakili. This was one of my favorite characters in the movies, and I love the idea of his character (the same as the Sith Wrangler); tame the animal, lead it somewhere, let it loose.

Least Favorite: Fi and Atin. Fi was supposed to be the sniper, while Atin was the tech specialist, but besides that, the stats and abilities were very well designed.

Side Note: I love the new Special Ability "Torture X," and the strategy that it adds to the game.

Vengeance and Cantina Brawl ThumbsUp

It can work VERY well, especially if he can get all four attacks off. He rocks, but I am just not one for playing Imperials all that much, so he does not rate too high with me.

Oh I totally forgot about the Republic Commandos. I'm incredibly excited to try them out as Niner and Darman are two of my favorite V-set Pieces and I think Fi and Atin look to be equally fun and compelling (though I'm sorry to hear their names are flip-flopped...I'm not terribly familar with their source material though.)

Wait...does that work? I assumed Nomi's CE only worked on powers like Force Push 2 where it says "Range X" as opposed to Repulse which targets pieces WITHIN a certain number of squares....I could be totally wrong, but that is how I thought her CE worked

Yes, it works.

A: No.

A: It extends the range of who Repulse effects, however, it does not affect where figures are pushed to. So, with Force Repulse 3, all figures within 5 squares would take damage and make the save for activation. Figures would still be pushed to 4 squares away. Figures 4 or 5 squares away would not be moved, since Repulse says they cannot be moved closer.
