Check out some of my custom miniatures I did a while back. No stats, just customized minis. Most of these are from West End Games Alien Encounters. I didn't just make these up. http://scottyspeedskillerkustoms.blogspot.com/

Thanks. I'm working on COTF set right now. Man that Darth Malak sculpt sucks! It's tough when the mini is so badly sculpted.

A lot of Wizards stuff is hit or miss, and most of the time the factory paint job does not help. See Clone Strike Qui-Gon Jinn or Dark Times 501st Legion Stormtrooper. KotOR Sith Marauder is also a great sculpt.

Thanks guys, it's really appreciated. My big problem is I suck at taking pictures! I have well over 600 miniatures that I've repainted but it's so hard to get a picture that's actually in focus. What are some tricks you guys use to get the great pictures that are on this site?

@Scotty Speed... Bahaha you werent referring to my photography then with your last post rofl. I'd say just take what pictures you can against a white background with natural light and whack them onto the interwebs. Then, later, refine the process with one of them fancy lighting rigs and eventually a fancy camera. Im still saving for the camera haha. All the best, and cant wait to see more of the star warsy aliens youve made over the years

Alright koby, I'll give it a try. Just finished 12 minis from COTF. I'm working on Exar Kun right now. A decent sculpt, but the cape is kind of funky.

WOW, this Exar Kun is trickier than I thought! What a ball-buster. Been working on him for a week now and still need to do the lightsaber blades. I can usually finish a figure in a day or two.

I added a few pics to my blog. These are just a few pics of some of the model kits I did. Not a standard miniature but take a look and tell me what you think.

@gvos, snap! No no no... wait, "We're Twins!" (from the movie with De Vito and Schwarzenegger) Great minds think alike, they say, though its probably just Murphy's law of the internets at play IMHO @Scotty Speed, Those photos turned out great; captured a fairly good likeness of the models under usual lighting conditions. To the models themselves, wow! The AMT STAP kit was masterfully made; they can be challenging from all accounts (due to number of parts/weight), I personally never got one. But that photo is also handy for scale purposes... the model number could be kitbash fodder down the line? The Medical frigate is awesome. The detail is superb, complimented by a screen-accurate paint job to match. A dutch angle with some fighters launching (like in the X-wing video game) would be the icing on the cake lol. That death star, its a v1.0 (ANH version) i think? Is that roughly in scale with SSB? If so, that would be awesome for table top battles! Can't wait to see what else you've made, especially since this is the tip of the iceberg.

Koby: The Anubis Death Star is, in my opinion, too small to be in scale with SSB. I guess it could be used though. The AMT would be a better choice but it is a piece of crap as we all know. I did get a couple of good shots of Darth Bane and Nihilus. Will try to get them up today.

WOW............. Awesome customs Scotty! By the way for picture taking imyurhukaberry told me this. @Squelch: try using the Macro setting on the camera. (usually is depicted by an icon of a flower) This is for objects closer than 8" (depending on the camera). Now I haven't tried this as of yet. Got caught up in work and home stuff. But huk never steered me wrong so hopefully this will help you out dude.

@scotty Wow! Great photography, and excellent detail on the figures! I think my faves are the unnamed assassin and alien figures, though Darth Nihilus is a close second haha I can't wait to see what else is in the archives... =) although, for your flickr account/post: you seem to have posted a link to flickr in general, not the URL to your gallery... EDIT: AWESOME!!! truly the stuff of legends, and the paintwork is phenomenal I wish there were more droids... but you've done so many aliens jedi and droids that its forgivable. How long did it take to make these? Also, how long have you been sculpting, cause those 100% scratchbuilds are awesome! Do you use vaseline (with your sculpting putty, to reduce fingerprints and make the putty easier to work with of course )?

Koby: I do use Vaseline but it has nothing to do with sculpting. I've been sculpting for around 10 years or so. Never tried it before then and then I went nuts, but not miniatures. I did 3 3/4" STAR WARS figures. I did a ton of figures from the DROIDS and EWOKS cartoon series plus a lot of alien figures. Miniatures didn't come along until probably 5 years ago. I sculpt pretty much everything out of Super Sculpey or Apoxie Sculpt or a combination of the 2. I'm pretty picky about my bases. I used grass and gravel bases for everything in the beginning. But then decided Grand Moff Tarkin looked a little silly standing in the middle of a field. Also I have a spare parts box that has been indispensible for greeblies to use on almost everything. I did a major overhaul of my Rebel Storm, Clone Strike, and ROTS sets that took me a year to do. My painting and basing techniques just weren't up to par with my current level so pretty much everything was redone. So basically I repainted them in the beginning then I re-repainted them again.
