All 9 factions have won a Regional this year - but only one will win GenCon. Who are you picking?

Republic for the win! They've got tons of squad options and have been doing well in recent GenCons, I think... I wish seppies weren't so lonely, though. The problem is that they only have one competitive squad option. One that involves General Grievous Droid Army Commander.

Although I want Mandalorians, I am going to have to say Imperials. But, if Mandos do win GenCon, I will probably cry tears of joy.

I would love it if the Mandos won but I think the Imperials will win.

I'll vote for Imperials. I think OR, Imperials, and Republic are the top 3, though. None of the 3 would surprise me.
OR is a strong gatekeeper - strong enough to keep out most factions if they have to face enough strong OR competition. That leaves Vong, Imperials, and Republic (Mace, who doesn't really need the CE) with strong counters to Bastila. Vong being the weakest of the 3, I don't expect them to run the gamut. Then I think Imperials or Mace would have an edge over a Bastila squad for the championship. If Imperials and Mace scare people enough that OR isn't represented in great enough numbers (say 20%+), then I think that opens the door for pretty much any faction.

I picked Republic, but I think Imperials, Republic, and Sith are the three strongest factions right now.
I don't really see Mandos or Vong winning, but I think all of the other factions are in with a chance too.
Old Republic are a gate-keeper, but I get the impression that experienced players have learned to deal with them better than they did last year. By the same token, they're also stronger than they were last year, with two really strong in-faction shooters now available.

I'd like for New Republic to come out on top with something new, but I think it will be the Republic.

The Imps have some great options, but I think Republic has better squads right now, so I'm voting Republic.

GGDAC is by no means a must. of the 3 sep squads to make top 4 at a regional, only one had him (double lancer). whorm / ig86 builds are far more competitive than GGDAC

Yeah, GDAC is hardly the most powerful Seps have. Whorm is. I have a feeling Imps and Republic are going to battle it out at the end.

obviously Mace and Wier are the popular favorites, but it all comes down to matchups in the top 8.

Oops, I forgot about Whorm. I don't think that a Whorm squad could beat a GGDAC squad though. However, I haven't tried it before. It could be interesting.

Don't forget Naboo Pilot/Trooper squads too - I think they're some of the reasons for the Republic's votes. They can take Mace squads and Weir squads apart, even if they have other bad matchups. I don't think Whorm is intrinsically better or worse than GGDAC, I think they're both excellent value for the CEs that they bring. They just lend themselves to different builds. The Atlanta Regional final was won by a player (greentime) with a Whorm and single Lancer squad against a Naboo deathshot squad. With GGDAC he wouldn't have been able to attack the troopers without getting death-shotted, but with Whorm he was able to go through and weaken them all down to 10HP, then finish them off with his drones and IG-86s. So Whorm is much better in that matchup.
