Kezzamachine's updated map list got me wondering about map collections. I'm closer to having a complete map collection than a complete minis collection - not just in number of pieces but in percentage.

I'm missing 8 WotC maps: all 3 Hoth maps, Mustafar Plateau, Ossus Landing Platform, Taris Undercity, Muunilist Commerce Plaza, and Christophsis Intact. (Not counting reprints.)

I have the full collection for JC/AA and for MoM. So 78/85 listed maps. (Plus 2 more unlisted blank maps, one gray and one brown - woohoo!)

I also have Nar Shaddaa professionally printed and one Christpher Preksta map (Death Star Skirmish) professionally printed.

The only reason I see to get the maps I don't have is for completeness. I don't see myself using them, except possibly Ossus Landing Platform for a scenario. Of course I would want the Hoth maps if I ever ended up getting the AT-AT, though. What about you? What maps are missing that you would like to get?

I'd like to get my hands on JC/AG7's map pack 1 maps. I could just have them printed at some point though.

I'm pretty sure that's all I'm missing. (not counting other 3rd party maps like Preksta's)
My copy of Mustafar is a bit rough, but doesn't seem worth it to chase down a better copy.

I would also note that there are 150dpi images of the Ossus/Taris on MapsofMastery.com, should anyone want to have them printed. (go to the sci-fi gallery, urls are given on the gallery images of each map)

4th party maps? BigGrin Technically, JC/AA and MoM would be considered 3rd party since they aren't WotC maps. Although they have been 100% embraced by the community since they were made commercially available.

I believe I'm only missing Grand Plaza, Cloud City, Mos Eisley Residence and Anchorhead from the Restricted list. Those are the only ones that concern me. I'm still trying to play catch up on a lot of old minis. So between hunting down sculpts I'm rarely if ever going to use or hunting down maps I'm rarely if ever going to use I guess I'm leaning towards the sculpts! :-)

I have everything except JC Map Pack 1. I agree I don't use many of them, but I like having them just in case.

I have several WOTC maps for trade if anyone is looking (see here for complete list: http://www.miniaturetrading.com/user/tonythetoyman ).

I just two figures to complete my collection: Bounty Hunters #55 Mandalore the Indomitable and Clone Strike #40 General Grievous. Doubt I'll ever use them, but I'm committed to completing my collection.

I've tended toward the maps for a couple reasons. I think a new map makes a bigger impact on a game than most individual pieces, so it's more variety. Also, for the 3rd party maps, they are getting much smaller print runs than anything WotC did, so if they sell out it would be a lot harder to track it down later. The secondary market for the minis will be there for years or decades. Prices might go up, but it will be a long time before there's a point where you want a mini and literally can't find it anywhere.

Plus, I like maps.

Since we moved to playing mainly scenarios, we see a lot more map variety.

I bold-faced it for you. BigGrin

And I agree with what you wrote in another post, map variety really keeps games interesting. BlooMilk

Hmmm... Not sure why as it appears to be working for me. How about this one: http://www.miniaturetrading.com/user/tonythetoyman

How did you guys wind up with Map Pack 1 but not Map Pack 2? MP1 was out of print when I got into the game. I got MP2 near the end of its print run, and then lucked out to trade for a copy of MP1.

I totally get that. I guess I'm fortunate that I play in Janesville WI at the league that Tim and Mark from Star Wars Miniverse run and there are always different maps out that we play on. Also, a lot of the variety that we get comes from constantly changing up the format. We will run Tile Wars some nights, 200 point regular games, Battle Royale, this week we are doing a 50/50 split between melee and non-melee characters in your squad. Later this month a troop battle. And so on.

Since you mentioned it though I did research a little bit and realized the difficulty in obtaining some of those maps. I bought map pack 4 awhile back and am really glad I did because now its gone completely from that site (love map pack 4!!!).

I also just realized that Grand Plaza must have been dropped off the restricted list since kez's last update. Guess I need to get those Mass Transit Maps!!!!

It’s tough to come up with the funds to make these maps on a large scale anymore.

If you all can raise around 8 thousand dollars you can get a re-release of Map Pack 1 and 2 next summer by the next Gencon. I will even update the art on the maps that need it.

Hold me to it. I mean it. you all come up with a way to pay for it, you'll get the maps. The only reason we've stopped is because we weren't able to cover the print runs anymore, and schedule conflicts.

It's actually only half gone. 2 of the 4 maps in map pack 4 can be bought at miniature market individually (including 3 restricted maps).

Seems strange to me, but there are 115 copies of Abandoned Casino/Ugnaught Mines at Miniature Market. That's from Map Pack 2. How did they wind up with 115 copies of that map and 0 of the rest of MP2?

Hmm, if I recall correctly, I ended up with an extra of one of those MP2 maps when I bought them. That would account for 1 out of 115!

Mmmmm, I think I recall that they were printed by mistake in the original run and when Matt sold all his inventory to Steve, it was part of it. If Matt polks his nose in here, he can correct me if I'm wrong.
