I think of 2 seperate instances. The first time I played minis (ROTS starter) I killed off his clones, then he told me that as we went back and forth in the round, he could use obi wan for every turn. Ob-wan, super battle droid x2-,obi wan- grievous. Needless to say he won, and I couldnt tell him he could only use Obi once a round, since I was new to it.

In a 300 point game while visting Dayton, Ohio, another opponent used GOWK with GM Yoda to give all his Jedi a +7 attack and +7 defense. I didnt have a rulebook handy, and i didnt want to cause a scene so I got screwed over bad. Luminara was at a 20defense+4synergy+4cover+7=35 defense. So not fun. I honestly think that he beleived those CE's stacked, but obviously they dont.

Am i the only one this happend to?

Back when I started, I thought spotter stacked and bonuses were doubled on crits and managed to convince everyone else in the store that was the way it worked (To be fair, we were almost all just introduced to the game the previous week).

The store's supply of aqualish spies diminished quickly.

Fortunately, we got it all sorted out by next week.

Yeah, I have had this problem too, most of the time it has just been from lack of knowledge about the game. My group used to say override could go to any door because we thought "see" meant like oversee. Also I used to think anyone with a gun had a "mounted weapon" so they could be healed by industrial repair. That was changed quickly. One person in my group thought you could always have Rebel and NR people together.

I remember confusing the use of Double Attack for Replace Attack abilities. I double thud bugged before Tarpals was cool. I owned the game before Universe came out but started playing then.

I used to think that characters with force points could spend a force point to reroll their initiative roll (ie, giving Anticipation to all force users).

I don't know if this counts but if I am in the middle of a match there have been times that I have not pointed out that a player has forgotten to add a +2 to there attack/defense or has a certain ability that could counteract and attack. I love grace but If they forget then that is there problem not mine now I have been on the receiving end of that as well and it kinda sucks. if someone is learning I try to help but if i am going up a veteran then their forgetfulness is my advantage.

Now I have never purposefully lied about the rules to win, and I don't think anybody has done that to me either. I have made mistakes on rules interpretations but never intentional.

Actually, if it's an automatic bonus to attack like Cunning or Bounty Hunter (in other words, non-optional), you are explicitly required to tell your opponent if you remember. If its something optional like Evade or Careful Shot you don't. Cunning (as an example) happens whether you want it to or not, and both players have to follow all the rules whether it benefits them or not. This is hard to enforce like all sportsmanship issues, but a judge would be well within their rights to warn or penalize a player for that in a competitive environment.

In my local play group it was originally thought that any force user could spend a force point to reroll initiative. I think that was the biggest confusion we had.

When i first started playing, it was unclear that "Attack" specifically mean an attack, and not abilities. So, we used to add things like cunning attack or accurate shot in conjunctions with missiles.

I thought 'sight' literally meant anything you could see, and that Thud Bug saves were only for the activation part.

I thought Accelerate + Strafe was legal for quite a while. (stupid rule, especially post Clone Wars)

I also thought Kouhun Infestation ignored who was the nearest enemy.

I used to think the same thing about Accelerate and Strafe; also about Wheeled and Missiles.

I'm embarassed to admit that until I read your post the 3rd thing applied to me as well. Blushing

Now, I probably could've gotten away with some things. There's been a few times when a judge came over when my opponent disagreed with me and just turned back to me.

I too used to think that Spotter stacked. I also misread the card text of splash and never rolled my attack because, "they're gonna have to make a save 11 to take damage anyway."

I used to think the 'Lightsabre' SA meant the attack was a melee one as that made "real world" sense. Turns out this game rarely makes sense Confused Flapper

Responding to the bolded part. Actually, you MUST roll the Evade or Parry or Avoid Defeat, and not doing so should result in a warning for both players. If your opponent removes his piece from the board without making his Evade roll, then it's your job as his rules-following opponent to remind him about Evade.

But you're right about the optional things like Careful/Deadeye (which an opponent MUST declare), or Bodyguard, or Riposte (but not the Djem So save...he must make the save, but doesn't have to choose to make the attack), or Draw Fire (don't remind me!), all of which are example of things an opponent may choose to do but is not required to do.

If I remember correctly...and I think I do it was you obiwan that told me I couldn't activate emperor palpatine on throne because he had emplacement so he couldn't move. Good thing that stuck only for the first game.Laugh Laugh
