I've heard that there won't be anymore huge sets, but that's just a rumor I heard from some other guys I play minis with. They seemed pretty confident that there wouldn't be and gave a few reasons why, but I don't have any proof to back it up myself.

In one of the chats with Sarah (from WOTC) and Rob (the designer for SWM) there wasn't going to be any in the next 6 sets after Legacy, but wasn't sure if Huge characters would make a comeback or not.
So....we shall see. (but I wouldn't hold my breathe)

Rob's making a list over time of possible huges, and maybe we'll see more.

One I've often wondered was not created was the Separatist AAT. It gets alot of action in the movies.

Yeah, there are easily 3 or 4 major pieces that would be nice to see as Huges. Unfortunately, the Huge sets just don't sell as well, and they are more expensive to produce, I would imagine. From what we've been told, there is no plan to produce any more Huge sets, but I think WOTC does seem to like doing the 'Battle Packs' like the Hoth and CW ones, so as long as those sell well (which I think they have), there's a chance we may see some more like that.

To be honest, I could probably live without more huge pieces. I mean, they're okay to have, but they're hardly ever used in the game. So they're not necessarily needed. All DCI tournaments I've played have been 150 points, and no one uses huges competitively. The only one I can think of that I've seen people use somewhat competitively is the X-1 Viper droid.
But if they come out with more big battle packs that have new/exclusive huges, I'd get them.

Huges aren't really supported by the maps that have been made DCI legal either. It's tough to move them around on most maps and I have never been a fan of the extra price of huge boosters, but pulling Boba, BH and a Young Krayt Dragon together was AWESOME!!!!!

I do think that Huge sets do provide a little shake up for things every now and then and add some fun to the game. I would be sad if they are gone forever.

I agree with Lobostele....I think the Huge sets are a thing of the past, but we may see more battle packs. I like the battle packs because they usually give you a map that supports the figs.

Well, I think if they made the Huges with better stats, it wouldn't be such a problem. Plus, we got like 4 news DCI maps in the last year for the 200 point level, which has really opened things up a bit.

Luke's Snowspeeder is still a great piece.
X-1 Viper can still be a lot of fun with either GGDAC, Jar Jar, Deliah Blue, etc.
Rebel Troop Cart still seems some limited action, though the errata to Force Repulse really hurt it (used to be a lot of fun to run Kota around in the cart. BigGrin )
AT-STs and the TIE Crawler may get a bit of a boost with the new Elite AT-AT Driver, or any other 'Crack Gunner' pieces that come out.
Felucian Rancor is still a pretty decent piece.
Telosian Tank Droids were pretty close to top-tier for a while
Golan Turret is still a nice piece to play with Rebels or NR (through Garm) every now and then.

The problem is, with the exception of Luke's SS, most of those fall just shy of being 'Tier 1'. And it's always been interesting to me that Luke's SS works as well in 150 as it does, with several maps being somewhat adverse to huges in 150. The new set up rules help quite a bit, but anything with Rigid is still unusable in the 150 format competitively.

For instance, the only reason I bought the CW Battle Pack was for the new maps and the IG Lancer. I didn't need either of the huges (already had at least 1 of each otherwise), and even if I did need those huges, I wasn't going to play them anyways, as they both suck in the modern meta. So, for future battle packs, they'll have to continue to print new, exclusive, pieces and probably include maps as well, in order to attract players. I'd rather see them do new Huges, but I guess it doesn't matter to me too much.

I agree with you Lobo. Have one map Huge friendly that would work with the new exclusives and the other map normal. Its almost like they did that with the first map pack.

Well I'd like to see more huge pieces. It seems to make the game more fun when you add that element to the board. I just bought a BH booster tonight and pulled a Basilisk. I could probably make it work in a squad, but I'm waiting to see what CE Jedi Academy offers the Mandalorian faction.

Oh and I pulled my first ever Boba Fett mini as well, so I'd say it was well worth the cost of the booster. ThumbsUp

Edit: Yeah, I'd buy a booster with Separatist AAT if they offer one.

I agree, and I don't want them to go away. I like huges ThumpUp

I really liked pulling IG-88 and Krayt Dragon in the same pack ThumbsUp

BUT, there were plenty of times I pulled Boshek, Guri, Bib Fortuna etc as the only rare. The way they have done them is far too expensive for that nonsense. ThumbDown

I would rather buy packs that had only huges (maybe 2/pack ?) at lower cost. Maybe a dozen per set, 1 VR, 2 R, 3 UC, 6 C or something like that. Just a thought...

I had to painfully watch as my friend pulled a Felucian on Rancor and a Darth Revan out of the same pack. What made it worse is that it was the second Revan he had pulled.
And it was because of that same friend that I chose the wrong Bounty Hunters pack out of two choices. Following his suggestion instead of my instinct, I chose a pack and got 4-LOM and...I don't even remember. I probably traded the huge on the same day. The kid who bought the pack I didn't pulled a Boba Fett Bounty Hunter and a Young Krayt Dragon.Crying Cursing

I think the issue with the AAT is that it would be too costly to manufacture as something to put in a booster. It'd be bigger, and heavier, than a TIE Crawler and that would make both the manufacture and shipping of the mini more expensive, and thus the price would be higher to make up for it. What would be cool is if WotC did a line of larger than huge, but smaller than colossal, vehicles like the AAT, the AT-AP, the GAT, and the TX-130. I'd love a LAAT in that scale, too. They'd probably do well for both the gamer and the collectible markets.

Someone mentioned the battle pack idea. I think that is quite feasible. I'd buy a battle pack to get a vehicle like that.

I've had horrible experience with the huge packs. Force Unleashed wasn't too kind to me in the rares department. I had to sit on some unwanted rares for a while before trading them off. My luck with Bounty Hunters was even more abysmal (the Droid Starfighter in walking mode always came to me horribly mangled, and I actually got a broken BARC speeder from Universe as well). Worst of it all was Universe; getting three Ponda Babas and four Dr. Evazans, not a single Thrawn, Subaltern, Rancor or Vader JH in sight until I bought the latter two individually.

So my opinion on huge packs like the above listed sets is good riddance to bad rubbish.

However, new huges in battle packs, like so many are already suggesting, isn't so bad. At least you're guaranteed specific figures, rather than a random pull sometimes determined by weight alone.

And one last thought: I absolutely hate the X-1 viper droid. Several of my friends mooch off my collection to build their squads for our games, and one guy just *has* to use the X-1 whenever he sees me building a shooter squad.

Cursing Force Unleashed
Another awful one...

Junk Golems, Spiders, TIE Crawlers, Juno Eclipse, Wedge Red Two... sucky.

Loda was about the only truly good piece I ever pulled by chance out of one of those. Snatching up a Felcor was a different matter. Of course the LGS owner caught on to that and started pulling those out to sell as singles before anyone got to them... Glare

Huge sets are tuff to sell, and expensive to produce. Plus as mentioned huges are hard to field, and they are not worth their points, (with some exceptions, Uggernaughts and Dactillions, and the Felcor). I do believe that Rob is keeping trakc of soem huges but I doubt we'll see another Huge set.

As for the AAT discussion their is no activity on any huge or large pieces at this time. It was mentioned in the chat Rob had a while ago. I can't recall if it was on WOTC or Gamers and the AAT was one of the things broguht up.

This is why I will ALWAYS buy cases for Huge sets if they ever do any more. Guaranteed to get 2 of the VRs, and a good chance at getting at least one of the VR Huges as well. I got into the game around COTF, but I had similar issues with individual Universe boosters that I picked up around that time. I finally ended up getting lucky and buying a very large collection of singles off of someone on Ebay for a SUPER price and it included some of those key Universe pieces like Thrawn, Vader, Rancor, etc.

Simple solution to that! Don't let your friend see your squad until he has one built for himself. Flapper
