Can Zannahs Lightsaber combat expert SA make the attacker disintegrate them selves? and are there any force powers or SA that can respond to disintegration? Confused

No. You're dead.

Unless I'm missing something?

You can bodyguard it - then the bodyguard takes the disintegration.

And I think Zannah can make them disintegrate themselves - but she still gets disintegrated too.

I would assume she would just send the damage back.

no I am saying that zannah would be defeated, but I think she would send back 40 damage from the crit.

altho....
Glossary Text

If this character rolls a natural 20 on an attack roll, the target character is defeated regardless of its Hit Points. The target is defeated even if it avoids damage with a special ability or Force power. If another character takes the damage from the attack (for example, using the Bodyguard special ability), the other character is defeated instead of the original target.

this could be taken so many ways lol. not sure...

I was reading some old threads about energy shield, and I think you're right that it's just 40 damage, not the entire disintegration, that can potentially come back to Boba from Zannah. Sorry to confuse things.

If you deflect damage back from a disintegration, the attacker is not disintegrated, they only take the damage that was deflected back.

The only time the attacker will take more damage is if the target was a huge as Disintegration becomes +40 damage instead.

Wait, is this correct? I know the bodyguard can take the damage but doesn't the target have to take the Disintegration anyway?

The target is defeated even if it avoids damage with a special ability or Force power. (This means you cannot bodyguard, as special abilities still leave the character dead regardless.)

So really body guarding is a waste since it would kill the target piece and the bodyguard.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that there was a ruling that Bodyguard was the only thing to prevent Disintegration.

Pretty much, unless you get disintegration on a huge, then it can be blocked like any other damage.

A Bodyguard would be Disintegrated instead of the target:http://www.bloomilk.com/Forums/default.aspx?g=posts&t=2304

And you can NOT reflect Disintegration, but you can reflect the damage:http://www.bloomilk.com/Forums/default.aspx?g=posts&t=2540

The key part is that it's defeated even if IT uses a special ability to avoid the damage. The character being attacked can't prevent the disintegration, which is why you can't Reflect the disintegration. However, when Bodyguard is used, it's a DIFFERENT character using the special ability, not the character being attacked, so it's allowed.

It's the same reason behind why you can use Bodyguard on a piece that gets hit by Suppressive Fire; the piece who got hit by the attack isn't the one using a special ability to respond, the Bodyguard is.

So you're saying that an adjacent Gungan Shieldbearer or Sep Reflector Droid can make Boba Disintegrate himself, because those are special abilities from the Non-Target character. Right?

No. Lets look at the 3 Glossary entries in question:

"Disintegration" wrote:

The target is defeated even if it avoids damage with a special ability or Force power. If another character takes the damage from the attack (for example, using the Bodyguard special ability), the other character is defeated instead of the original target.

Against huge or larger targets, the attacker gets +40 Damage instead of defeating the target. (Add the bonus damage after multiplying.)

"Bodyguard" wrote:
If an adjacent allied character would take damage from an attack, a Bodyguard character can take the damage instead, even if it is not a legal target for the attacker. A Bodyguard character can't use this special ability when an adjacent ally takes damage from something other than an attack, such as Grenades. If the original target has the Shields special ability, you must decide whether a Bodyguard character will take the damage before the original target rolls for Shields. A special ability whose name includes Bodyguard (such as Emperor's Bodyguard) is treated as the Bodyguard ability for all purposes except as noted on the stat card.

"Energy Shield" wrote:
When this character or an adjacent character is hit by an attack from an enemy that isn't adjacent to either character, the attacker makes a save of 11. If the save fails, the targeted character takes no damage and the attacker takes damage equal to the prevented damage.

Note that Bodyguard specifies that "a Bodyguard character can take the damage", so it's the exact same damage being transferred. This triggers the exception in Disintegration that says that "If another character takes the damage from the attack (for example, using the Bodyguard special ability), the other character is defeated instead of the original target."

Compare that to Energy Shield. Energy Shield says that if the save fails, the target takes NO damage, so the damage created from Disintegration is completely negated. Of course, this triggers that part of Disintegration that says "The target is defeated even if it avoids damage with a special ability or Force power", so the character still dies. Now the attacker also takes damage equal to the prevented damage, but that is different damage. It's equal in amount to what Energy Shield prevented, but it's damage being generated from Energy Shield, not damage being generated from an attack, so the Disintegration doesn't follow it. The same logic is behind the fact that you can't Bodyguard or Deflect damage that gets sent back to you from Energy Shield; Energy Shield is a Special Ability producing the damage, like Missiles or Grenades would, it's not the original attack producing the damage anymore.

Think of it as two separate parts:

1) It's a critical hit, thus your damage is doubled
2) Disintegration takes effect, so your target is defeated

They are two separate parts. The damage itself can be prevented, reflected, etc., but the second effect is left alone. A Bodyguard takes both effects.

Jar-Jar can make you disintegrate yourself, though.
