A little late getting this started this year but it's time to predict the top 8 squads at gencon.
I'm going to say 3 Imperials, 2 Sith, 1 Republic, 1 Mando, 1 Sepretist in the top 8. Cad Bane and Thrawn has been a good power squad this year. With Melee teams being strong having a high attack force immune shot is very strong. I think Darth Caedus SL squads are pretty strong and I see them making a big splash as well.
What are everyone's thoughts on squads and players they think will make the top 8 this year?

Squads built by Lauka K will finish 2nd, 4th, and 7th.

Sith have been being played a lot lately but getting mixed results, so I could see them coming in with 2 or 3 or 0 if the matchups just aren't right. (or your squad is lousy like my PA Regional Squad. 2 Spirits?! What was I thinking?!)

Scott, will you let Lou play 2 different squads if he doesn't go to time in any match? If so, then I think Lou takes two of the T8 spots.

I pretty much agree with Weeks' initial post - Sith and Imperial have been the two best performing factions this year at Regionals, and I can see that carrying through. Although it does interest me that Imperials were really good at last year's regionals too, but didn't really feature at GenCon.

But they are so good against Sith, and with how popular Sith have been maybe we will see Imps back in full swing at GenCon

After Mandos' strong showing, I expect to see more of them at GenCon.

That will be a trick, since the only person I know for sure is playing a squad built by me is me.

What are everyone's thoughts on squads and players they think will make the top 8 this year? I think I agree with most of this assessment, though I think NR (Luke/Kyle/Jan) will do well enough to get in. Here are my specific predictions, mostly agreeing with Weeks' prediction: *3 Imperials: Cad/Thrawn with either Arica or Morrigan for 2. Accurate Echanis for the other. No Storm Commandos. 2 Sith: Caedus/Vergere with a tank (Zannah/Malgus) and Caedus with shooters. 1 Mando: Kelborn/MtV/Captain. Fenn is an option, but IMHO he's not the best choice against the broad meta. 1 NR: Luke GH with Kyle/Jan. 1 Sep: Whorm/Klats. *1 Republic: Here's a risky call, and it surprises me, but I think it could happen, depending on matchups: Skybuck. It can handle Thrawn/Cad without too much trouble (same with Echanis), and I think we'll be seeing a lot of Imperial squads. If no skilled player uses Skybuck, I think we'll see 3 Imperial squads in the T8...if a skilled player uses Skybuck, I think we'll see 2. Heck, I'll even call the champion now: Mandos all the way! [Either them or those blasted Imperials!]
