You know it took me almost 2 decades to finally accept the Vong invasion story arch. I loved Thrawn, and how the Empire was divided up into warlords - all things very much 'realistic" when any kind of power vacuum unexpectedly appears within a corrupt government. I loved the the Emperor Reborn stuff, and most everything else in the Legacy era.
I only ever had a problem with the Vong but like I said, I eventually came around to it. If they cut that stuff out however, I wont shed any tears but I really hope they keep Thrawn, and the Reborn story arches as intact as possible. If they blow everything up, and use nothing - then I'll have a serious problem.

Yeah, I saw this. We could all see it coming, and I hope they at least keep the general feeling of the stories, like the Marvel movies although the details are very different. I think that the Old Republic might be safe as that is an ongoing thing, and if we keep that, then we get to keep KOTOR and some other things.

Most likely, everything is blown up and (almost) everything "officially" reappears with slight variations. A few things will even be "adopted" by being re-released under the new official banner. Just my guess.
Some things that are likely to go away... Vader's Apprentice was not that strong, Chewbacca and Mara do not die so early.

Quite Right about the adoption thing by the way. Some new titles coming out that sound a little familiar: STAR WARS: TARKIN James Luceno 11/4/14 STAR WARS: HEIR TO THE JEDI Kevin Hearne January 2015 STAR WARS: LORDS OF THE SITH Paul Kemp March 2015 http://starwars.com/news/disney-publishing-worldwide-and-random-house-announce-relaunch-of-star-wars-adult-fiction-line.html

just keep the Star wars coming.
Canon means little to me, its all stories about this galaxy a long time ago, far, far away
The stories exist to enjoy regardless of their significance on Lucas' timeline

Just finished "I, Jedi". Am loving reading the good ol' EU. New timelines and alternate stories won't really bother me too much. I still have all the old books and they're still legit to me. I just realised that my Star Wars is whatever I make it. No one can change that. Booyah!

I think this was inevitable. But it's not Lucas' fault. Lots I could say here but it looks like we are going to have parallel galaxies far far away here. I hope they don't attempt to change or discount the Kotor material. Personaly I could care less about the Y Vong although there are a lot of great Jedi in the new republic era. Here's to hoping that Kyle Katarn shows up in the new films. I will say that I am happy that Chewie will be in the new movies.....

Since Clone Wars is considered part of the new canon. They had intended to put Revan in the Mortis arc but decided not to. I also think the Legacy comics are safe as they are still publishing them.

Considering this is the first time in a long, long time I've been excited for a Star Wars novel, I think this is a good move going forward. Seriously, a Tarkin novel by Luceno?? Who could complain about that.
The EU is now in a Shrodinger's Cat like state. I think it is safe to say, that stuff still exists until said otherwise. As much a I love some of the stuff from the EU, being non-canon does not bother me. Disney cannot take those stories away from me. I do admit that I was slightly worried that they would keep the old novels unavailable before I could complete my e-book compilation.
And good riddance to the crappy stuff. Good bye Black Fleet Crisis, Legacy of the Force, and Fate of the Jedi.
