I went through the Vsets to mark which pieces really need a custom. I'll post the full list later when I get a chance. For me, "really need a custom" means the proxy just doesn't work at all, and there isn't another proxy that would. Also, it's a piece I'd like to actually play (either because it's competitive or just fun). There were only about 60 pieces that fit the bill, but I don't have customs for many of them.

Anyone else have a checklist they are trying to finish?

Here's the checklist. Most Vset pieces have a decent proxy already - they are not listed. Some have an acceptable proxy (e.g. it's a human male with a lightsaber... doesn't really look like him but close enough). They are not listed. Some don't have great proxies but it's a character I wouldn't even recognize and/or is a piece I'll probably never play anyway. They are not listed. The ones that are listed here as "really need a custom" have a really bad recommended proxy, are pieces that are likely to be played, or some combination of both.

(* = the ones I have... still a long way to go)

Vset 1: Destiny of the Force
*Joruus C'Baoth
*Salacious Crumb

Vset 2: Renegades & Rogues / Battle of Theed
(none)

Vset 3: Vengeance / Cantina Brawl
*Malakili, Rancor Keeper
*Yuuzhan Vong Hunter on Quednak
*Vergere
Tonnika Sisters

Vset 4: Scum & Villainy / Jedi vs Sith
*Embo
*Squib Trader
*Saba Sebatyne

Vset 5: Galactic Heroes / The Old Republic
Boss Nass
*Jedi Master Jorus C'Baoth (same as Joruus)

Vset 6: Command of the Galaxy / Vehicles of War
Durge on Speeder
Luke and Leia on Speeder

Vset 7: Armed & Operational / Invasion
Lord Scourge
Sith Meditation Sphere
Oppo Rancisis
Pong Krell
Buzz Droid
LIN Demolitionmech
Owen and Beru Lars
Sarlacc
Shmi Skywalker
Young Anakin Skywalker

Vset 8: Shadows / Undying
Ommin
*Mace Windu, Lightning Squad Leader
Admiral Trench
Falleen Black Sun Bodyguard

Vset 9: Warfare & Subterfuge / Diplomacy
Yarael Poof
Ewok with Catapult
Killik Bodyguard

Vset 10: Evasive Action / Rebels
Darth Desolous
*Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker
*Dengar on Swoop Bike
*C1-1OP "Chopper"
*Ezra Bridger
*Zeb Orrelios
The Inquisitor

Vset 11: Long Time Ago / Far Far Away
*Odan-Urr
*Warb Null
Callista, Force Spirit
*Cindel Towani
*Dianoga
*Dice Ibegon
*Droopy McCool
*Max Rebo
*Pote Snitkin

Vset 12: A More Civilized Age / The Force Awakens
*Padawan on Swoop Bike
*Xesh
*Ajunta Pall
*Sith Witch
Skyborn Ranger on Uvak
*Tyvokka
Killik Drone
*BB-8
(I got the Takara Tomy Arts figures for Force Awakens, but BB-8 was the only one that desperately needed one. The other RMs are actually pretty good.)

Vset 13: Gathering Forces and No Such Thing As Luck
*Sarasu Taalon
Hutt Cartel Kajidii on Hoversled
Maz Kanata
Rathtar
Han Solo with Bowcaster
*The Father (same custom as Jorus)

Vset 14: Unifying Forces and Rogue One
Dowutin Soldier
Sith Holocron
Jedi Holocron
EV-9D9
*Sy Snootles
Baze Malbus (Talon is a good RM, but he needs a big gun)
*Chirrut Imwe (RM isn't actually that bad, but I do want a custom)

Vset 15: Unexpected Allies and Heroes on Both Sides
Ric Olie with R2-A6
*Kouhun
*Nico Okarr
Zuckuss and 4-LOM

Vset 16: Rise to Power and The Last Jedi
*Keshiri Temple Guard
Set Harth
*Guardian of the Whills
Rey and Kylo, Force Bonded Allies

Miscellaneous:
Some custom armored Mandalorians:
*5-10 Basic troops
*Armored female Unique
*Special "Mandalore" to stand in for a Unique armored Mando

Some custom Yuuzhan Vong:
*5-10 Basic 'troops'
*A couple of Uniques

Extra sculpts for:
Nightsisters
Ewoks
*Generic Force Spirits

Vong and Mandos pretty much all look alike to me, so WotC pieces can proxy for anything pretty easily usually. But it would be good to have a few customs to highlight the Uniques. And so that the Mando Gunslinger doesn't have to stand in for every female Mandalorian.

Not bad looking, but it would probably need to be painted.

Further to that:

Sev'Rance Taan
Passel Argente
Jan Ors
Laranth Tarak
Tyber Zann
Yammosk
Really the rest of the Rebels crew (Hera, Chopper, Sabine and Kanan they deserve their own)

And the new soon to be released (hopefully one day and no RM will look like them)
Abeloth
Kylo Ren
BB8
Finn
Rey

The RM for these isn't great but for most of them I'm not familiar enough with them to be bothered, and for the others I don't play them often enough.

The RM for these guys is pretty good, actually. Could be better, but not egregious like the ones I listed above.

I just got a spare Kyp Durron, and I read somewhere that he's clear under his paint. He might make a good generic spirit. Stand in for any/all of the Vset Force ghosts. Anyone know - where are the directions for stripping off the paint and making him look like a ghost?

Are there any other pieces that are clear underneath?

That would be fine, too. I know there's a really good one for the Falleen but I don't remember its name. I'd like to get customs for all of these eventually but not really in a rush.

Fill a shot glass with 100% acetone. Drop the mini in head first and watch how disgusting it appears as the paint loosens from the plastic. After one minute, remove the mini and scrub off the paint bits with a toothbrush. Rinse in running water. Repeat until all paint has been removed.

Kyp Duron
Jedi Crusader
Mistryl Shadow Guard (promo for sure so likely the normal version, too)
Jedi Battlemaster
Possibly Starter Set Dooku, Luke Young Jedi and others. I've not soaked them yet.

Thanks. Seems like a random collection of pieces that are clear underneath.

What they have in common is a lightsaber or lightwhip. I've found that in most lightsaber-wielding cases, WotC cast the mini in black but the arm holding the weapon was clear and attached at the shoulder. Why a few are all transparent underneath is a curiosity.

It's been years since I stopped making mini's to match my cards, but off the top of my head,

Sevv' Rance Tann = Young Jedi Knight painted with blue skin

Malakili = Torturer (#45 Unhallowed D&D Minis) would need a head swap but good body type

Tyber Zann = Heroclix Lightening Lord

Laranth Tarak = Echanni Handmaiden with green stuff lekku.

Jan Ors = Dark Hellion Gang Member (and if you look at [url=http://www.bloomilk.com/forums/default.aspx?g=posts&t=11827] you see instructions on how to make her.)
