The competition this week is to make an imperial commander. It can be unique or non-unique, made by WotC or v-sets or not.

I (Naarkon) will personally be making a more non-combat commander, but I'm fine if people want to make an uber beatstick commander. Just make the focus the commander effect.

Rules
1. The character must be canon and from the chosen faction. They can have affinity, but the character must start in the chosen faction. EDIT: Since Canon is all screwed up, just a known character is fine.

2. You may update any existing versions you already have and/or create a new one. You may update/create several versions of the character but you must ultimately select 1 you wish to run with. (this must be done by the schedule below)

3. Place a hyperlink in this forum to make it easier to find your character. You can just post the stats or image here but if changes are needed it would be easier (and save space) if you just used a Hyperlink (If you don't know how to post Hyperlinks in a forum setting please ask and we will help you. It's not hard )

4. Voting works as follows, pick your three favorite customs based on accuracy to the character, design, balance or whatever you decide makes the best incarnation of the challenge character. First place receives 3 points, 2nd place receives 2 points, and 3rd place receives 1 point.

6. To make things fair you must vote in order to win the contest. You must choose three characters entered in the contest and you may not rate or vote for your own character.

7.. The winner will be decided by how many points they receive. Ties will be broken by most 1st place votes, then if still tied, 2nd place votes and then 3rd place votes. If still tied, then the outcome is a tie.

8. you may not change or update the entered character AFTER the deadline (from Tuesday-Thursday you may get advice and change your character accordingly) Friday at midnight [US central -600] before any votes are cast is the deadline.

The schedule will be like this: Monday the winner of last weeks CCC will announce his/her choice for the character (including the faction), from Tuesday till Friday characters can be created/updated but on Friday you must have picked one character to submit. Then voting will be held on Saturday, Sunday and Monday until noon [US central -600]. Monday night the winner will be announced and the next character picked.

Just to clarify, the choice is an Imperial faction figure with a CE?

Here is my piece for this week. I'm pushing the power level this week to a level I'm not very comfortable with, but it's part of checking everyone's tastes.

Here's where I disagree with you Donny. You're pushing the "power levels" for everyone else's tastes at the expense of your own comfort and possibly enjoyment?? I Hate epics as I've stated; I don't like going over 40, and frankly my wheelhouse is more of the 8-28 range (as GG & Cerous could tell you since we go back to the WOTC days.)

Make what you want, not what everybody else expects. I made the mistake last contest of going with Haazen instead of what I wanted to do which was a minor 13pt Sith character (No, the Sith Emperor was an Aboleth-type unbeatable exercise in monster making.)

But I'm ranting ... on with the contest .....

PS - You've upgraded the WOTC piece with Triple, GMA & Evade ThumpUp but I Kinda liked him with Push and with the upgrades + CE I think he's closer to 48, although Temptation could arguably indeed make it close to 44, which is within spitting distance and therefore not worthy of argument .... Cool

Here's mine. I wanted to make a Vader that can hold his own, but also provide a nice lift to the 501st Subfaction.

Ok, some explanation first:

After the destruction of the Death Star, the deaths of the emperor and Darth Vader, and as the New Republic begins to rise, I imagine that the Empire would have fallen into quite a bit of chaos/disarray. This character is supposed to represent a devoted, and brilliant battlefield-tactician type of commander during the time shortly following episode 6, who keeps his head despite the empire crumbling, takes control of the situation and is able to bring his troops to victory in various skirmishes even without any of the advanced military support the empire's military would have been used to. His flavor text pretty much sums him up.

Here he is:

I know that this is a very ambitious piece (being non-unique and all, etc) so any feedback about what you like/don't like, how to make him better etc would be immensely appreciated!

Ambitious isn't quite the word I'd use; while the idea is quite admirable (somebody in the Remnant keeping their cool) you've created the most powerful non-unique in the game and as far as his 16 Attack, he's more powerful than all but 10 unique Epics ... and he's more powerful than all non-force wielding characters except Czulkang Lah and Boba Fett, Mandalore ...

I'm just skeptical that such a character would actually be a non-unique; a commander smarter than Thrawn would have risen out of anonymity.

What I usually do in a case like this is scroll through lists of Moffs and Admirals in wookieepedia until I find some minor character who fits the general idea of what I want to create, then fine tune so it matches that specific character.

Wow, here goes: http://www.bloomilk.com/Custom/25517/imperial-guard-captain

So, obviously trying to make the Royal Guards playable. The inherent problem is that you generally only play one or two bodyguards at a time because they generally aren't great shock troops. So, a commander who boosts a bodyguard who can only protect one person (who is usually MORE than capable of handling himself) might be a moot point, but I thought I'd give it a shot.

Right now, he makes a decent interference piece himself, and running a group of them with a good Palpatine, they make for tough interference pieces with 25 Defense in the open. But they're still weak attackers and vulnerable to area-of-effect abilities. I was thinking of making the rapport -3 - it seems overpowered, but they're still pointless without Palpatine, and most good Palpatines are quite expensive. Maybe Emperor on Throne would be the best squad base - you can stake out gambit pretty well with the little buggers, and starting a squad you've got 121 points to build with after Palps, the Captain, and two Guards.

... But that's what I like about pieces like him; he's reasonably priced and helps a small tidbit of the SW universe that might otherwise never be played. Love the idea!

I also wanted to boost the power/play-ability of the Royal Guards.
they're so cool in Imperial Assault(IA), thought they deserved dome respect in SWM

Jak I like what you got started. I would love to see you give Kir Kanos "Royal Guard". He is one of the best forgotten about pieces in the imps. His Wook read is one of the best I've ever read too. I made a custom for his alter ego Kenix Kil. check it out.

NOT PART OF CONTEST

Well, you've inadvertently made me slightly PO'd! Not you or your character, mind you, but I made one years ago and I just tried to find him and Can't! ... so I also can't look at yours till I find mine or recreate it (Don't want to steal anything.) Arrgghh!

Edit - Found him (yikes, he's 7 years old!) Must update (he's even got the Old WOTC card template.)

So much activity and I can't figure out which guy to use, the conventional, or unconventional piece ....

If I don't hear anything I'll choose tomorrow which I'll go with.

The Conventional Piece

Imperial Captain He seemed bossy and a bit of a ruthless clutz, so I Nute Gunrey'd him a bit with good/bad abilities.

Edit This is the third time I've edited the piece. Something bugged me about it from the very start; the execution didn't seem quite right; I hope I've got it right now.

The Unconventional Piece

Coruscant Undercity Beggar I've always liked low point pieces; I think they're actually harder to make. This guy just sorta popped into my head a week or two ago ....

Who to pick .... Help me Obi-Wan, you're my only Hope!

Wow... I like them both! I think the first one probably fits the contest a little better? I like his CE + Second Guess: cannoning a bazillion stormtroopers is powerful, but balanced by Second Guess. The beggar is pretty awesome too, though - I like the aspect of him coordinating the other informants.

The Imperial Captain seems really strong for only 17pts. Figuratively speaking, I am playing him with Daala and Piett and then he is going to cannon at least 10 Stormies who are dealing 30 damage even with choosing lower dice I figure at a +15 attack minimum half will hit. Plus he adds them on a pretty healthy series of rolls. He's a cool concept but super powerful I feel like.

The beggar is pretty sweet.
